The Mizzou grad coach we had at North Gwinnett left for another job and all momentum was lost after that and the Imatorbhebhe decommitment.
This is disappointing to hear. Any idea where he went? Is it another spot that will have consistent solid recruits?

Glynn academy I believe. I did some research on them and they've never produced a D1 football player, so that sucks.

I know Mizzou probably developes better than anyone else, so I should shut up, but I was expecting more excitement after last year.
I certainly expected more after winning the east. I think losing Ofodile and Hentges is still tainting my thoughts. Had we landed those 2 in state kids, I would be clamoring about this class.

Sucks to hear about our connection at North Gwinnet. I presume that will dry up now. Any idea where the coach went? Is he still in the southeast somewhere?
ETA - Nevermind. You answered it.

I guess if we got Beckner, Williams the DE from St. Louis (Ladue) who is committed to Wisconsin and a few 3 star LB, I would be good.

Pinkel Copter sighting last night
He flew to watch Beckner, Jeff Thomas, and Nate Strong play last night.
3* WR Johnathon Johnson plans to be in COMO next weekend. He is a 5'8 175lb guy. Listed as a 4.4 40.

at the rate we're "unrecruiting" and can't even get a 2 star to commit on the spot,
pretty sure we're doin it wrong.

I know GP isn't the most dynamic person, but WTF? Are all the coaches just that uninspiring?

Yea he was instrumental in getting us a year of DGB..
Yost is a sign of the problem though..
The Pinkel System:
Loyality >>>>> poor to avg performance
Pinkel is preventing himself from reaching the next level.. but
"we do what we do"

In his last 3 games, the Thomas kid has gone:
9 for 206 with TD's of 25, 27 and 80
8 for 144 with 2 TD's
7 for 147 with 1 TD
Doing that with what I suspect is not a D1 level QB. Frick the kids from Ofodile's school. Build that pipeline and relationships with East St. Louis.

I'm frustrated too and seems things aren't taking off like one would think after winning the east, but:
Lock is not doing it wrong.
Strong is not doing it wrong.
Abbington is not doing it wrong.
Harris is not doing it wrong.

Yea just looked at the Tenn class.
They have 3 times the number of commits we have with just their 4 stars alone, didn't even count their one 5 star.
Tenn has done next to nothing the last half decade, sure we have good kids in this class, but it's obviously not big enough. We have quality but not quantity, we need some talent at WR and all over the defense.
At this stage, I'm convinced winning the East again this year would make almost no difference in recruiting, might allow us to hang on to what we have though.

I think part of our problem lies in not bringing kids in on officials during the season. So they don't get to see the gameday atmosphere or excitement around campus. We bring them in after the season in December when the kids are gone and it's gray and crappy outside. Why do we feel this is better than visiting during the season? I can't imagine southern kids are impressed by cold Missouri winter days. Look at Kentucky, they landed 3 4* kids after their big win last night, and Ole Miss brought in a ton for their game against Bama.

Malik Cuellar visiting for the UGA game.

For everyone who think we can not win because of poor recruiting I want to point to the Miami Hurricanes, Michigan Wolverines, Florida Gators, USC Trojans, Texas Longhorns, Northwestern, Virginia Tech, USC Gamecocks, Tennessee, Washington, California, Texas Tech, Virginia, and Utah. These are all teams who rated higher than us in recruiting in 2012 (would be juniors and redshirt sophomores this season; DGB, Evan Boehm, Russel Hansborough, and MM were our gets in that class) and yet we are still a better team than them this year. It is not just about getting the highest rated player. It is about getting guys that fit your system. Guys who didn't peak in high school. By rivals recruiting we had one 5* (who is no longer on our team) and one 4* in Boehm. Texas had two 5* players and 15 4* players. Look where they are.
2011 Recruiting Class we had one 4* and that was Sheldon Richardson transferring from JUCO. We had the 43 ranked class (this group of Seniors and Redshirt Juniors) and I count about 26 teams who Mizzou is better than this year.

While I totally agree that star rankings are way overblown. Sometimes the rankings do reflect useful measurable, like speed. So better recruiting helps a program fill in their glaring needs faster. For example we need a speed threat at WR. Some of the higher ranked WR have good measurables in speed and quickness.
Using the star system to pinpoint recruits who help with a certain need I think is helpful, but building a program based on pleasing the masses with Rivals rankings I agree is foolish.
