Fair enough.

How do you all feel about separating the football and basketball recruiting threads for 2014? Just a suggestion.. not a big deal either way.
Also, possibly cleaning up the board and getting some of those stickies knocked off. My ocd is kicking in at the moment, my apologies.
Gotta think that Henson being the man in charge and being an OL guy will help get some of these instate OL guys to Mizzou.
Mizzou is the type of place that seems like it has always had parts of the puzzle but never the entire puzzle at the same time. They have the D but not the O, or the WRs but not the QB, the QB but not the OL... hopefully that starts to change. Wish this upcoming OL class came about 3 years ago.
Of course I'd love to have 2 different threads for the sports. But I also understand the basketball posts are probably 1/100 of the posts. All for knocking off some of the stickies any time as well. I've stared at the 2013 thread long enough. Guess it's still up for basketball?
As to putting all the parts together, that's part of the problem of not having the depth. If we had depth at every position, then it's a matter or reloading every year, instead of rebuilding the team based on the new faces.

Lots of offers the last week or so including Hickman LB Grant Jones.
I'll try to update the offers ASAP

Does anyone know who all is coming in for junior day? I know we have mentioned a kid here and there, but didn't know if there was a list of who was attending.

If we could get Andy Bauer and Roderick Johnson to commit to Mizzou early it would be huge for the next recruiting class. We need a strong start with our in state guys that will hopefully spill over to the out of state guys.

My money says you can forget Bauer committing early. Besides, he was already committed once, I imagine he's not going to commit until NSD if I had to guess. He may be the DGB, EE of this class. My guess (and it's a pure guess) is that GP has or is trying to schedule him for that OV on the last weekend. My impression, knowing nothing, is that might have a better chance with Johnson committing early.

Thanks Cheshire.
Making all the offers in the world is great but meaningless until they start landing some of them. What's been your experience with recruiting the southeast?
I think we'll get 2-4 kids out of the southeast that were passed over by UGA/UF/Bama etc. But if that's the net result, I almost feel like we're concentrating too hard in that area. I think we have over a dozen offers in GA and FL, by far the leaders of the pack. I am happy to see more midwest offers too. I still think that's where our concentration has to be. I think we have a dozen offers in the midwest outside of MO.

there is plenty of talent in the midwest this year we need to take advantage of. 4*s all over the place.

We haven't had much success with it to be honest. I think in the last 10 years the only "elite" recruits we've gotten out of Georgia and Florida were Ahmad Carroll and Michael Grant from Georgia under Nutt and then Alex Collins and Denver Kirkland from Florida this year under Bielema. Outside of those four we've struck out pretty miserably on the top guys. Now we've gotten guys out of there that have turned in to players down the road but they were not highly recruited 2* and 3* type guys.
My sentiments echo yours. I think Georgia, South Carolina and northern Florida are a waste of time for us. I want us to hit Miami because that's obvious a strength of our current staff but outside of that I would rather see us focus on Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Missouri (sorry), Memphis and Chicago.
You guys could potentially see more success than us down there however because you are actually going to be playing more games down there than us since you're in the East. We played 1-2 games a year max over there in the past and that will drop to 0-1 now that you will be a permanent opponent. We just have no presence over there at all.
Personally though if I was the Mizzou HC, I would continue to recruit Texas hard. I think your time in the East is going to be short lived so no reason to burn those bridges when you are going to move back to the West sooner than later.

I agree with you about the move to the West and recruiting Texas hard still. I think we do have about 10 offers currently to Texas kids, only behind Florida and Georgia.

How is Bauer not a 5*? Has offers from literally every major division 1 school. The only ones missing are USC and Oregon. I'll bet he'll be a 5* before it's over.
Isn't this Darnell Green Beckham's class? I thought Mizzou had indicated they were going to offer him as well? Is there no truth to what I had heard? Or is it just that it's a matter of time?
Cheshire...You know anything about a kid Corey Harrison out of Jacksonville Arkansas? Big kid at 320 already and Rivals shows interest in Arkansas and Mizzou but no offers yet, at least that I saw. Anything you may know about him would be great. Don't even know if the kid can play, though I saw he had won some sort of awards. TIA

How good is Darnell? Is he going to get offers from major D1 schools?
Ane yes, I remember an offer to Darnell was apart of the agreement when Dorial signed.

Darnell has good size and good potential but his leukemia stunted his growth as an athlete. I wouldnt be suprised to see him as a 2 or 3* but if he is to redshirt a year and then play out the rest he could become a very good player. He has great athletic ability. He may be a steal in the recruiting class.

Jacksonville borders the Little Rock Air Force Base. Having lived in the city several years ago for a couple of years, I would say that if the kid is actually from Jacksonville it would swing 80% Arkansas - 20% Mizzou, if however, he is an Air Force brat it would be more like 50 - 50 on who he chooses. That High School is 100% Hog, unlike the bigger schools in NLR and LR and I'm pretty sure the HS coach tries to steer the kids towards Fayetteville.

Booth won't be making his visit this weekend because of the weather. I have no doubt he'll reschedule for another time. IMO, he's our #1 out-of-state target right now.

Found this little nugget on the Harrison kid. We may not be recruiting him:
College Information
Corey's Colleges of Interest
1.) Arkansas State University-Main Campus
2.) Oklahoma State University-Main Campus
3.) The University of Texas at Austin
If he picks the Longhorns, I say "good riddance"...
