Most definitely not. Your own power rankings take that prize.

Not me. Sold the model biz to a gay man name Adrien. Sold my house in LA to a straight man name Adrian. I am off on a new adventure in Silicon Valley.
Selling the house was fast...
"Do the models come with the house?"
"If you let them stay for free they do."
"frick yeah! Where do I sign?"

Take me with you. I predict that within the next decade 80% of the houses in the US will have a Tesla battery pack installed with a solar panel or wind turbine on the roof (Tesla or a competing design). And if battery takes the technological leaps that it's supposed to in the near future, it'll grow even faster...fwiw, Tesla isn't waiting, they are going with lithium ion.

Nothing that exciting. We are making products to sell to banks and other financial institutions.
I am not taking anyone with me. The first 6 months will mostly be about trimming fat inside the organization and lining up some strategic partners. (That means finding someone to pay the bills.)
It is hard to hold good people in Silicon Valley, so it is an extra hard challenge to keep the people that you want while you eliminate the people that you don't want. From my side it is trimming the fat. From their side it looks a bit like the ship is sinking.

I wish you could do this from Mississippi. The state needs people like you making business happen.
We have no water restrictions and I'm pretty sure that are some decent tax incentives.

I plan on finishing my 20 in the Army, getting a divorce and coming to work for you out West to do whatever. No questions asked. Surely you can "retire" into something lucrative and lawfully shady by then. If so:
I have a Top Secret clearance
Tall and good shape
combat experience, tactically sound to 300 meters
very picky / vain standard in women
I can drive like you can close a deal
Think on it.

I have a long story here. Here's the short version...
In the 90's, I was one of the first to do manufacturing in mainland China. I wanted to move everything other than manufacturing from Santa Clara to MS. (Technical design, s/w, admin, etc.) In a nutshell I was told that if the manufacturing wasn't moved to MS that I wasn't welcome. The thought was that a successful company outsourcing the manufacturing to China was bad for MS. They didn't want to appear to be supportive of such an idea. I didn't move.

Very interesting. I'm sure the situation hasn't changed much. MS should take any and all business they can get. Mid to High paying corporate jobs are few and far between here, but they'd rather cut off their nose to spite their face. I don't necessarily support outsourcing manufacturing either, but that wouldn't stop me from letting the company put their headquarters here. I'm sure the fellas who condemned you now look like idiots, because most manufacturing is done overseas. This reminds me, China already has in production Tesla-like battery packs for houses, but Tesla says they can do it for cheaper over here in their own plants, how wild is that?
If Cspire can pull through with their plan to fiber up MS, I think we could become a destination for Silicon Valley and/or renewable energy. There is already a big push for solar on a state-wide level. Here in Lincoln Co., Entergy is setting up a 5 acre solar field.
Maybe circumstances have changed, who knows.

You can't have any manufacturing in MS because no one here will work.

That's just wrong. Right now, we have a group of people looking into opportunities to relocate things from China back to the US. I think MS could get some of that work.
- Labor prices in China are going up pretty fast.
- The west coast dock workers strike has really hurt a lot of businesses. The local truckers will strike next... and soon.
If you divide manufacturing into high-tech, mid-tech, and low-tech, MS probably wouldn't fare well in high-tech or low-tech, but there should be a lot of opportunity in the mid-tech area where the products are relatively expensive to ship from overseas.
We'll focus on some small plants first to do a proof-of-concept and see what happens.
