He'll be looking down on ya while you are playing.

I played with a family friend last summer in Arkansas. He is my mom's age and grew up playing golf with my great uncle and grandpa when he was younger during the summers. So he was telling me all sorts of stories about when they would play. It was fun to hear.

If you ever have a chance, PLAY SPRING CREEK RANCH.

Never played or been there.

It's up there with Old Waverly IMO though. I think Waverly has a better layout. Spring Creek is just LONG. But man, it's a nice place. Very cool clubhouse. No houses or anything on the course, just golf.

We played from two up from the tips, and it was stil 6700 yards and a 72.7/141 rating. Tipped out at over 7300 with a 77.4/145 rating.

It's easily in my top 5 courses. It may be #1 or #2.

It's also Waverly level connection type.

Where you if have a connection, you can get on because it's usually wide open. Only like 300 members.

Honestly, it's on my list of places to think about interning. Quite a few of the undergrads have interned there and they've had nothing but great things to say. Free housing. Superintendent is laid back, but a very good boss and knows his shite. You get work with wall to wall zoysia and Champion bermuda with the very best at keeping them looking great.

They are also part of a cool partnership with their equipment company, so they get new shite all the time.

Somewhere out west for sure. Wouldnt mind a summer in Wyoming/Colorado and a winter in Arizona or SoCal.

I don't want to get ahead of myself but if both teams win their respective regionals , SR weekend would be a good time to schedule some Beartard/GrindRant golf... Maybe in Sardis if Oxford is all booked up... Just has to be before the first pitch is thrown... For everyone's safety... Course workers and beer cart girls included.

I play there every week and it's never wide open.

It used to be about a year ago then there was a rush of new members.

When did you play?

Eta: IMO the front is way tougher than the back.

1 is pretty easy
2 is one of my favorites except that it's cart path only
3 so goddamn long from the right fairway. A little bit easier from the left.
4 short but frick that green
5 always short
6 water
7 always a shite drive, good 2nd, what I think is a decent 3rd, then 3 put.
8 hit that left tree more often than not or I'm in the bunker
9 try to kill it, hit limb on left and have 230 yd 2nd shot
10 bomb drive, hit 2nd a bit too long end up putting 10 ft downhill with 1000 ft break when the pins in the front
11 pull it cuz I hate water then a long way from the hole
12 my favorite hole. The only hole I consistently par.
13 prettiest hole. The closest I've ever come to a hole in one
14 another great hole as long as your 3rd shot doesn't go over the green
15 most fun hole on the course. Drive it along the water and hopefully over the left bunkers and then you've got a 100 yd shot on a raised green that you can't even see the flag.
16 right sand like 150 out but looks like 200. I'm a little drunk by then. Usually end up picking up.
17 easy par 3 that I make too hard
18 hit drive on #10 fairway and play from there.

Sorry I'm bored but it's my favorite course.

When did you play?

I played a private golf outing last Thursday. The other turf grad student did his 8 month internship there, and said it wasn't out of the ordinary to go the whole afternoon (and sometimes day) without running into more than a handful of golfers. He said he'd spend whole afternoons out on the course and never run into anyone. So I'm just going off what he said. Heard similar things from all the other guys who have interned there (MSU turf program has a strong connection with SCR).

I could go through every hole if I had the scorecard, but it's in my bag.

We started on #2. So we finished on #1. We played from the "Carson" tees, I think, so #1 was play 380. I barely carry the bunkers on the right and get a heck of a kick that rolls up to 40 yards of the green (340 yard drive). They had the pin tucked in the right behind the bunker (they had a TON of hard pin locations for us). I flew the green by about 5 yards. Step up, and chip in for birdie on the last hole. Only birdie all day.

#12 has the creek in front of it? The back has some pretty great holes. The whole course does.

Had a rockin' crawfish boil after too.

ETA: Their website says they'll have a microbrewery soon.

So now that Ole Miss won't be hosting, anyone down for a golf get together this weekend?

beHop, I'm looking at you.

I think we'll be off Sunday, but it only being one day it would have to be something within a few hours of Meridian, say Dancing Rabbit, somewhere in Jackson or Starkville?

I'm willing to travel a little bit.

But $140 at Dancing Rabbit isn't worth it for me. It wasn't in great shape when I played two weeks ago. Not $140 shape for sure.

I'm always down for MSU. Anywhere worth it in Meridian?

I played last summer and it was in pretty good shape and I think I paid 120, but if it's not tip top and it's 140 it's definitely not worth it.

I normally go to this place called Briarwood CC. It's on par with MSU and it's 45? I think to play 18. I normally play 9 after work for 24.

There's a fricking fine place called Northwood CC, but you either have to be a member there or get reciprocity from your home CC to get on.

ETA: There are some guys from Jackson that might play with us on here. Maybe they know a decent place there we could hit up.
