Went out and broke in the MSU course Saturday for the first time of 2014.

It was sloppy from all the rain, but still made it in the 80's at least.

I use to play that course every day of the week when I was in school, sometimes twice a day.

The semester plan used to unlimited golf for $285, but I think they've gone up every year since then.

$400 now with a $50 gift card usually. I keep the gift card and use it to help pay for the next semester.

This past summer I played pretty much everyday after work. Go out there around 4-5 and squeeze in a round. Played 45 holes one day. Four man scramble tournament for work, then played 18, and the asst. pro jumped on with me at the turn and then wanted to play the front again.

Love the course. Hell, it's how I've met almost 90% of my friends here in Starkville.

Played a fred couples course north of dallas yesterday. Awesome, challenging course. You could see for miles in all directions and hardly any trees. Strongest straight-line winds i have ever felt. People were getting their money back. Tripled the first two and then started getting used to it. It was somewhat links style too. Good shite.

Yeah, the wind was pretty brutal at MSU on Saturday as well. I swear on every hole the wind would be in my face.

Teed off on 1 with wind in my face and came back opposite direction on 2 with wind in my face.

That course sounds awesome though. I like courses that are open, but still challenging. It really shows the creativity of the course architect or designer.

The biggest problem with the State course is MSU being located in a rain forest.

Going to try to get in 3 rounds a week this semester but the rain every day makes it tough.

I swear it comes in waves. We will have rain and bad weather for 2 months straight. Then it won't rain a drop for the next 2 months.

I remember last summer it rained a LOT and was overcast when it wasn't raining. Then right at the end of July, beginning of August, it just quit. Didn't see rain for month and a half.

That was so awesome. Unlimited beer drinking, cigs, and cussing.

You could charge it to your student account too.

eta: OP has been updated with the proposed date for Round 1 during Super Bulldog Weekend in Starkville on April 12, 2014.

If any of you would like to call and make sure there's not a tournament or something crazy going on there that weekend, that would be great.

How many guys total are we looking at? We would need to start at probably 8 in the morning to get it in before baseball, because the saturday game would normally be around 2:30...

We're at 20 right now, but I'll bet a third of that won't show.

I'll check with the asst. pro's next time I'm up there.

If it ever stops raining.

I think we have decided on a two man scramble with two Black Bears and two Grinders. You know, diversity.

Ahh I see, so my partner will mostly be using their shots lol. If we can could possibly do 3 or 4 man teams that would be great. Of course, we'd have to be on an honor system. Or have "judges" running around keeping us honest.

We could mix it up and have some 3 or 4 man scramble teams.

Say we have ten for each school.
1 - four man scramble
3 - two man scrambles

Head-to-head matches (OM 4man vs. MSU 4man, and then whichever two man you are paired with). Tie-breaker (matches tied 2-2) goes to the two man team with the lowest score.

Plenty of creative ways to make sure it's fair and fun for everyone.

Tie breaker should be whole team average on most difficult hole.

Other than that I like that setup a lot.

We can figure it out in March when we know a better estimate of numbers. Shouldn't be too hard.

We need to fashion some sort of trophy. And have some funny awards.
