I think Newberry is a good replacement with Shoop being gone.

I really do like the hire and his offense will be fun.. but WTF is he doing on defense. Washington state was 91 ranked and its best. Why hire those guys.. that side of the ball will be a disaster. He needed to hire a proven DC and let him run it. No DC will want to come with a staff in place. It’s arse backwards..but
I can’t wait to see his offense.. always one of my favorite coaches and he will get a QB. Guy can flat out coach offense

Leach never had good defenses and I see why now. He needs to not be so loyal to previous staff and hire a proven DC and let him run it. A top 25 defense and his offense would yield some great teams

Its not uncommon for a school to change DCs and keep the rest of the staff.
Leach kept a DL coach who helped his unit lead the Pac in sacks so...not the end of the world

If it is Zach Arnett like the rumors he had the most turnovers int eh entire country at San Diego State... granted competition is prolly garbage, but even factoring that in it is still crazy impressive... Things might be trending in the right directino

Yeah they werent playing against Bama, but they didnt have Bama players either so..

That’s a great hire!! He is rising fast in the ranks.. the pirate got a good one. Will be fun to watch state this year.. it might take a year to get his system in place but you will see progress

Costello was apparently Boom or Bust on State since we were the only OV he was taking. If things didn't go well, he is going to have to scramble for option #2.
Costello made a good impression on Leach. No word on what Costello thought about MSU. He left this morning to go back to Palo Alto.
