I do think there will be a QB Competition/Controversy in 2018

Whenever a new coach comes in, your position is not garunteed. And that is any position on the field period. You have to earn your spot. And that's one of the great things about a new coach. No complacency.
Am I saying Thompson is our QB? Absolutely not. Fitzgerald has the tools to win it for his final year and I think he will. But I'm not sold on this narrative that every position is locked down. No it's not. Mayden will have an opportunity as well. It's called a healthy QB Competition and we have the deepest QB depth chart I can ever remember. These are talented guys. And yeah our most veteran leader probably is the "least talented" or whatever. But he's a winner. And I think his injury has made him more of a leader. And I think this competition will only make him stronger to win these SEC Games he was so close to pulling off last year.
And as for any other position, WR definitely. It's all open. Don't think Aeries is automatically the guy. Kylin Hill could certainly win it. Yes you have all 5 starting OL back(that have started at some point) but that's going to be a competition too.
You see what I mean? Spring Football is going to be fun. Because for the first time in years, our players aren't going to be complacent. We're going to be battle tested against great competition within ourselves and by the time fall comes around, we'll have an incredible team!!!
Hope to get this board more active. But man yatesdog has me all fired up from his post yesterday. Right now I say 11-1. But man I think they'll be the Gumps toughest one. And yeah I'm done with Men's Basketball. But not for Women's Basketball. Because I'm ready for a National Title and Vic is the coach to do it. and in Moorhead we trust, he's the coach to get us to Atlanta in 2018. He just has to prove my prediction wrong.

Fitz, Keytaon, signee Mayden?
One time we had Dak, Fitz, D. Williams, Tiano, Staley. But yes, long time since the days of Croom.
I just think the unknown of what Moorhead can do here is what's keeping my eternal bulldog pessimism strong. When Mullen came in, there was only room to improve. Not the case now. Maybe we can be a team that stays consistent now.

I wouldn't try to rush things with Mayden. We were forced to accelerate Thompson's development, but Moorhead has the luxury of having 2 QB's with game experience. Give Mayden a year to learn stuff and re-evaluate at the end of the year.
Thompson was an EE. That is a huge plus for a true freshman QB.

Isn't Mayden a left hander?

D Williams wasn't good though. Not sure about Staley but I don't think Tiano had the skill set to be a SEC QB.
Recruiting wise these are the highest ranked QBs we've ever had

I thought Staley had some potential but guess I was wrong. He got kicked off his high school team for starters. I just looked him up on 247 and it says he is a hard commit to Morgan State. Looked up Morgan State and they won 1 game last season.

I'd be shocked if Moorhead did any worse than Mullen tbh
