Here is how Mike Leach could fix things if he wasn't so damn stubborn.

I always dissect our games this year when we lose in trying to find out where to put blame and did this one too despite the fact we pulled off a miracle.

You watch Auburn and other teams who have learned to run the ball on us as they make adjustments (something we never do) and you will see 1 and often 2 tight end sets for blocking and opening huge holes. Auburn started doing it a lot. Of course, we can't because Leach is not big on tight ends , smh.

Another thing, you see how teams adjust on defense and sometimes stack the box? Wouldn't that be a good time to add a tight end as an extra blocker? I mean a TE could help buy Rogers a couple extra seconds, then leave his blocking assignment and get open as another receiver. And if you need to run the ball, a big TE can help push back the defense.

I've been a pro Leach guy but he has lost me now. He is stubborn to no end , never shows emotion on the sideline to get in his players face when they are screwing shjt up etc etc (Notice how Cadillac Williams kept his team playing hard)

I don't think Leach is the answer anymore. It's the same garbage we saw in year one.

Disagree, Coach Leach is both the answer and the question. I support CML.

No he's not. He runs his offense. That's what you get with the air raid. You want him to convert to a pro set within a game? Keep a big TE on the squad so when he comes in to play, the Defenses know to expect run?

Because that's all he had. Is to be a cheerleader.

Was he ever? I don't love or hate him. He's a 7-5 guy. Just ask yourself, do you enjoy losing to the big guys every year but win the ones you expect to win or do you like the occasional upset with a whiff in the season?

All we need is 1 or 2 Michael Crabtrees on the team.

I always thought that adding a TE would help this concept ... although a RB serves much of the same purpose a TE can still be that extra blocker and double as a check down guy as well. Just my thoughts but I don't make millions coaching football either so maybe - maybe not

Our running backs do a good job of blocking, but they have occasionally whiffed on a blitzer. Love Will but he freezes like a deer in the headlights with any pressure, and he does not feel the pressure coming from his blindside.

Agree ... and sometimes the TE can't move after the set.
Question - is this THE original Mardye McDole ? If so I'm honored ... I was a high school team mate of Donald Ray King and Ron Harper ... I really loved our team those years and have the highest respect for you sir

He was my favorite player on that 1980 team. Tulu reminds me of him

Mardye McDole was one our greatest WR’s and ranks right up there in top 5 all time.
Had a good pro career as well. One of my all time favorites.

MB,
Don’t be so hard on ML. His scheme is fine. Do we have some flaws? Absolutely.
Last Saturday night, I put the letdown completely on the players. When it got to 24-3, (and it is human nature) we got fat and lazy, like Coach alluded to in his PC.
We stopped doing the things that got us the lead. ML correctly pointed out that Auburn still has a lot of talent and they kept playing hard.
It was almost disaster for us. But we were the better team at the end of the evening.

Saturday night, UGA on paper is better than us. But that does not equate to an automatic win. We will see what happens. Certainly, WR needs to be improve his pocket awareness. There are plenty of areas where we need to improve but we are a much better team today than we were in 2019. And I do not want to return to those days.

ML is a good coach and effectively speaking this is only his second year as 2020 was such an outlier.

So your solution is to fire Leach for Cadillac because "they play hard"? Ok cool

And I have to say that Will had his best game of avoiding the sack against Georgia. He actually threw the ball away instead of taking the sack several times.
