No exaggeration

His quotes not mine.

"MSU coaches will be out of the office (mainly Mullen and Koenning) until May 20th and either on the 20th or right after is when I expect Bench to visit MSU.
And I confirmed this morning that MSU does have a spot for Bench. So this continues to head in a good direction for MSU."

I'm just saying Paul has been Very positive on this situation, FAR more than he was on the other QB that was looking to transfer from Notre Dame.

Somebody mentioned they saw on twitter where USF was a possible leader, and Paul replied,

"I would put MSU in the driver's seat right now"

Bundy wasn't really exaggerating.

ETA: and when someone asked why he thought we were in the driver's seat, he responded,

"Just from talking to Steven a lot. A lot of our talks are off the record and I have respected his wishes of what he wants reported and what he doesn't."

Per PJ, he is visiting USF the May 13-14, NCST May 17-19, then visiting us last the May 20-21 and will make a decision within a couple days of completing his visits.

What really scares me about his chances is that he would have to sit out a year, and I don't know if thats what he wants to do.

True, but if he does he gets more time to learn our offense and will go into next spring with a chance to win the starting job.

Sit out how? He is eligible to play right away. And he has been quoted as saying he is 100% fine with redshirting and learning the offense.

As Req said, he doesn't have to sit out and is eligible immediately due to the Penn St sanctions.

With Cord's draft status looking like it may be 30-40 picks higher than I'd hoped, Bench is an absolute must get IMO...

Is Bench an option QB? If not, I don't see why he would consider the Fighting Mullens

He was considered a dual threat qb coming out of high school.

Jr Highlights

Seems to fit pretty well IMO. Definitely a better fit than Schuessler was...

Paul seems to think it's going to come down to us and NC State. I feel like he's going to choose USF due to the chance to immediately start, new coach, and ~300 miles from home.

NC State is also after Brandon Mitchell, so if he goes there that'll help us as well.

Only 54 miles difference in distance between USF and MSU from his hometown. They are no longer a power-conference team beginning in 2014, so we should essentially again consider USF a mid major.

Does the chance to "play immediately" in the virtual equivalent of CUSA outweigh the opportunity to play in the SEC? Guess we'll see...

It didn't for O'Korn, but like you said. We'll see.
