@bobcarskadon: MSU will also name John Hevesy (OL) and Billy Gonzales (WRs) as co-offensive coordinators; Greg Knox (RBs) also named special teams coach.

So we just hired one guy and "promoted" two, and gave one guy more work to do.
You'd think we had no money to work with.

So we were ok with moving Stallach to the office and hiring a TE/ST coach, but to give the RB's coach the ST responsibilities is too much?

I wasn't okay with that either.
I think we should take ST far more seriously and hire a legit guy for that job alone.

So what position coach do you want to give the axe?

Yes. The majority of special teams coaches around the country are also the TE coaches.
Don't like it. Wish we would make one more hire and shuffle Sallach.

I just don't see how a RB coach's workload can be that much more than the TE coach's.

It's probably not -- but that's not my point. You are looking at special teams as secondary in importance to the position they coach. I'm looking at it as primary in importance and anything else you can get out of them is a bonus. For that matter, I don't even understand the real purpose of a TE coach? I mean, it's nice to have -- but why not let them work receiving drills with the WRs and blocking drills with the OL? If there's one position on staff that's expendable in favor of a ST coach, it's TE's...
Knox has 3 years of total Special Teams' experience from 20 years ago at Stephen F Austin. That's a FAR cry from what I was looking for with stealing Memphis, Houston, etc dedicated ST coaches. Hell, the guy from USC is still available...

Look, I'm not saying this is the best situation. I just didn't see how having a ST/TE coach was any different than having a ST/RB coach.
If it were up to me we would have a ST coach, period. But that's not how we roll.

I'm not looking to axe anything, but having one coach dedicated to ST and nothing else.
It blows my mind, with the shitshow that was our special teams last year, that we aren't being more proactive to get someone legit in there for ST.
Special Teams are just as important as offense and defense. It's easy to over look it ST, BUT look at the best play of last year that changed everything about the landscape of the national championship. Special teams baby

Do we have 3 Co-Offensive coordinators? Am I reading this correctly?

Mullen takes the batteries out of their headsets before the game.
