I'm about ready for West Point or Starkville push through another Derek Sherrod.
Then again, Damien Robinson was rated better than Sherrod. OL crootin is such a shitshoot...

I remember people saying that Damien was overrated coming out of high school. People from both State/Ole Miss. When you see people saying that from both schools it generally seems to be true. I read the same things about Kailo Moore....hence why I wasn't very upset when that guy flipped.

old on. Keep all things equal please. Not if those kids hold offers from Bama, LSU, A&M, etc..
Please tell me who we can hire to take kids from Texas and Louisiana that those three schools actively want? Because that person doesn't exist.
Kendal Briles! Just one example is all you needed right?

Then you are dumber than we already know you are.
Says the guy who stated "that person does not exist"

The goal in those states is not to pull elite talent that those 3 schools want.
That's a dumb arse goal. a pussy goal!

You know, the kind of kids that largely go to Baylor
Glad you stated that because the guy I mentioned pull players FROM BAMA AND MORE to Baylor. 5 stars my friend. And he's nothing more than a WR coach on the team! edit.. now Co-OC
David Hall. 5 star. Offers from Bama, LSU, A&M.
KD Cannon. Massive list of offers.
Now what?

That's true. And I wasn't on the boards for Sherrod's recruitment, so no idea how that one went.
I thought he was overrated AF post 08 Egg Bowl though...

Oh -- you mean the son of the coach who just signed a ?15? year contract to stay at that school?
In that case, JOHN frickin HEVESY. Lead recruiter - Chris Jones. Hell, he's basically the best recruiter in the country using your criteria isn't he?

See previous answer. They are going to occasionally get AN ELITE PLAYER or two at Baylor. I never once said otherwise. That shite happens. That does NOT MEAN that they are outrecruiting these other teams for players that they want. It just means they got ONE GUY. There are a million possible reasons for that.
Know how many players at aTm and Texas have Baylor offers? ALL OF THEM.
Thanks for playing.

I hope that's the case of using Hughes for instate recruiting. I also hope Mullen is starting to look at a more regional and national approach, which looked like what Brewster was trying to do. Mullen's initial strategy was to recruit within a 100 mile radius of Starkville, which is absurd. You know there has to be some good players in weak football states that want to play in the SEC. You might not be able to sell the location as much as the conference, TV, potential to go to the NFL and so on.

Same goes for Ryan Buchanan who signed with UM last year. He had offers from almost every SEC school but watching him play in high school, I doubt he ever gets off the bench.

I tell you something else that's huge to me -- we need to spring however much extra $$ it costs and start flying recruits directly into Starkville instead of GTR. That 20 minute drive that gives the "first impression" of the area is a buzzkill that supports all the stereotypes they've heard of what kind of place it is and probably kills our chances with a bunch of kids before they even get to see campus, town, etc...
Fly them directly into Starkville -- roll through the district on the way in -- straight into campus. It's crazy how much difference that little change in "presentation" would make in kids' first impressions about the town...

You asked a question. You mentioned Baylor. You got your answer. It can be done.
Your words were "that person does not exist".

Wow. What about last year? Rohdes.. 5 star. #2 Wr. Billings..
2012..Magee..etc..
BTW.. your words were along the lines of nobody can get a recruit if all 3 of those schools are recruiting them.
quote:
It just means they got ONE GUY
As shown... More than one guy.
Fact is, you are simply wrong. You are "accepting" it can't be done. I am showing you it is being done.

Rumor is he's an excellent recruiter that doesn't have much to show for it given the area he's recruiting to and where he's recruiting from.
It's a lot easier to recruit to MS from LA and TX than it is to Utah. You can't tell me that a 26 year old AA who is the leading passer at Utah can't recruit to MS State better than Koenning.

No shite, grandpa. The non-senile adults are speaking. Have a puddin pop and a werthers.

This would be great if possible. Could you imagine being that qb that went to fresno last year? I bet he wanted to go back home after that drive from Columbus. Nothin but cows and cotton. It would be nice if we could fly someone in and them never see either.

Exactly. You fly them directly into Starkville -- and that town can seem pretty big for a weekend.

So in other words, darkhorse basically said he could kick all of our asses in a subtle way and no one took notice.
