Well established phenomenon over time. Who knows how that might play out under the new format and the new committee. But, a one loss Michigan State to a #4 Oregon first part of the season is a distant memory compared to a hypothetical loss to a 10 or Ole Miss in the Egg Bowl.

It's the same feeling that Bundy gets when he is predicting a cruitin' decision.

Polls. Established phenomenon in polls. Polls that don't matter and aren't taken into account in the new system.

We got a good glimpse when Ole Miss loses @LSU, the AP drops them from #3 to #7, the coaches' drops them from #3 to #9, and the committee kept them at #4 based on the overall strength of resume. Literally all the data at this point shows the committee totally ignoring time of loss while looking at total resume. These are numbers people -- not "fad" people.

Until Michigan St gets thumped by an Urban Meyer team in a revenge game this Saturday at home.
Even then, assuming they win out, 2 top 20 wins, maybe 3, one top 10 loss.
Mississippi State - 4 top 10 wins, maybe another top 20 win, 1 top 10 loss.

There is a 0.00% chance that we are getting left out in that scenario.

I don't know what else State has to do to gain respect. Whether you guys win or lose against Bama, you're still one of, if not, THE best team in the country. That's how it is though. Perception is so many people's reality. Outside of the Egg Bowl, I'm pulling for you guys.

The thing is I see Damian beating them too. You would have to go way down the rotation, maybe Staley, or Fit......wait maybe just put JRob in wildca....Damn! We would have to TRY to lose that one for OM to even have a chance.

You don't really believe this. Williams couldn't even score on last year's Ole Miss defense.

And OM couldn't score on our defense. Your only score was a FG and a defensive TD on a blocked punt from our own endzone

It's still a stupid statement.

Assuming we win in Tuscaloosa, WE WIN THE SEC! I don't see Ole Miss recovering after those two hard losses at the end of the year. Im not saying its impossible, but its unlikely. Hopefully LSU will beat Bama to get their spirits down for our game. If State wins against Bama, the SEC is practically ours, and maybe the playoffs as well

But he did score on last year's OM defense...

No, I wouldn't feel good about the game with him starting at QB just like I didn't feel good about it last year...

I could be totally wrong but there's a history of teams (even with a better resume) get penalized more harshly for late season losses.

You are wrong. There is no history on what the playoff committee is going to do.

Auburn's resume would be better up until that point but State would have the opportunity to win the SECCG and that could possibly put it over the top. It's going to be really interesting to see how much weight they put on conference championships.

No chance that a 11-1 Auburn goes to the playoffs over a 12-1 SEC Champion Mississippi State. State would also have the head to head.

Late season losses hurting teams are a thing of the past. Ole Miss proved that by being #4 right after a loss.

Actually... there is... they put Ole Miss #4 right after they lost. Proving that they look at entire body of work and don't put too much weight on 'what have you done for me lately'.

If we Beat bama and win the SECCG, we are in. No doubt in my mind.
