I would like an proven defensive coordinator and a new oline coach. Maybe someone new to coach the dbs too.

Is anyone getting fired?

Logically you would think someone would have to go defensively but I think MSU has to start establishing some staff consistency on that side of the ball. Sirmon was pretty bad but 3 different coordinators in 4 years is never a good thing.

I doubt that anyone gets fired. New coaches, new schemes, and a lot of new players is a bad combo for anyone. If we don't see improvement in spring and early next year, then it is time to bring out the pink slips.

I just want us to throw a couple million at Charlie Strong. If Dan could keep him around for a few years we might actually be able to have an elite d.
I'll put the coolaid down now.

He was hired by USF.

Mullen is not going to fire Hevesy. Really wish everyone would understand that.

Our D sucked arse this year but for continuity sake it would be nice to keep the same DC for 2 years in a row.

We understand it just fine. We don't like it one bit and it's one of the reasons why I don't like Mullen. But we don't have many options at this point. Let the shitshow continue.

It was Sirmon's first year. He, in no way deserves to be fired. Especially the way we played down the stretch.

How about demoted?

But the entire staff on that side was basically new. I guess that just how it is but I guess I just prefer that somebody like Manny Diaz came in and didn't need a year to make a difference.

The way we played down the stretch? The next to last game of the year we had 0 stops in an entire game. 0.

This was the worst Mississippi State defense in 100 years. That's not an opinion or exaggeration. That is factual.

We gave up 600 yards of total offense and 40 something points to an FBS opponent.

I could go on but I won't.

Oh hell no. The 1969 team was the worst defense ever. We're talking Kansas-would-be-ashamed bad. Offenses weren't wide open then, and we still gave up 74, 61, 52, 48, 47, etc. in games.

Houston may have gotten close to 1000 yards, but I can't find the stats on the game. Most starters on other teams were in street clothes in the 2nd half.

Link? I am telling you that there is no way that this year's team was worse that the late 60's defenses. Offenses today would have torched those teams for 1000 yards a game. Ask any old timer. They were small, but they made up for it by being slow.

I don't have a link other than to the schools website. I want to say I heard it on a podcast that's on BSR. I want to say that they went back as far as 1922, and that team was worse. So technically not quite 100 years but close.

Maybe, but things are so very different now. The rules favor the offense now. They favored the defenses back in the day.

I played at Cal. In my SR year, we lead the nation in offense at 458 yards per game. Mike White was considered an offensive guru. 458 ypg would be 35th in the nation this year. Looking backwards at yards or points is just apples and oranges.

I get what you're saying, and agree.

I was just responding to "there's no reason Sirmon should be fired" bullshite.

Sirmon did not have experience as a coordinator. He brought in a new scheme. We had all new coaches. We had some injuries. We had a lot of new players. Richie Brown is a shadow compared to most other guys that have played that position for us.

Let's see if Sirmon and the other coaches learn something in the off season. The great thing about humans is that we do learn and adapt. If he does the same shite as before and expects different results, he should be fired.
