The lease is a bunch but I've had this conversation with Dave Hood. Trust me, anyone with any sense can make money of that space. There have been quiete a few groups of investors/owners who have never been in the bar business give it a go. The issue with the bar business in Starkville is that college town bars work at 10x less the margin of other bars (cheap drinks etc...) b/c they have to compete. That's why it is imperative to know what your doing. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to make money at the Bulldog in Jxn w/$4 beers and $8 crowns. It takes skill to turn a profit on a bar with $2 wells or $1 you call it night.

My thing is -- how does the Library work in Oxford but not in Starkville? Because it's a really solid business plan they use there IMO. Give all the hottest/sluttiest girls VIP cards and let them in free and drink cheap -- and all the guys will follow and spend their last dollar drinking in there. And I remember the day that the Library wasn't "all that" in Oxford -- I still despise the place -- but it's nice to know a few VIPs.

That's what I say every sober minute of my life. I somehow always manage to end up back in there though.

I've contemplated organizing a group to buy it recently. It's an expensive property.

Leo Lewis quote:

quote:

"Mississippi State and Alabama are really about the same to me right now," said Lewis. "But I am taking my time and I don't want to make an early decision. I am just looking at the family atmosphere at all of these schools. I want to see where I am able to mesh with the players and the coaches the best."

It's gonna be a battle.. He will likely end up being one of the top linebackers in the country next year. His film is unbelievable.

I think he could be THE top linebacker in the country on NSD next year.

Y'alls class is looking really nice so far. I think both MS schools have a chance to finish top 20 this year.

Interesting Dontea Jones quote from this weekend

quote:

"I've been thinking a lot lately about maybe staying close to home for college. I just got my driver's license and it would be a good thing with Mississippi State right down the road. I would just be 30 minutes away and could drive home when I needed to and my family would be just 30 minutes away. So I am kinda thinking in-state now."

Big fan of the Alec Murphy offer. Met him in Starkville over thanksgiving, probably the most well spoken recruit I've ever met. Big frame to build on and had an impressive junior year.

He also plays a mean game of shuffle board, which I believe counts for a 4th star on ESPN and Rivals.
