We are only taking 2 DEs in this class one HS DE in current commit Chris Jones who is 6'6" 265 and a JUCO DE we lead for in ZaDarius Smith.

State has a really good inside with Ashton which has kept the communication strong during the dead period. That's where that recent article came from. If I had to say he leans one way or another I'd say state, but that's only recently this month because of the dead period. He's not going to commit early so a lot will happen

Well, with one DE committed, we don't want to take Gray. (at least not this early in the game) With only 25 spots, you have to recuit/sign based on your needs. It's not a first-come-first-served basis.
We signed 3-4 DEs last class, and with one committed in this class, we will likely take 1-2 more in this class. (DE from EMCC is likely #1) With that being said, we probably have 2-3 ahead of Gray on our board. I'm not saying that because he chose LA. Tech; that's the way it works with limited spots.

Correct. We took 5 DE's last year(4 HS) and 3 HS DE's in 2011. We've got 11 roster DE's before this signing class, only 2 of which are seniors, and only 1 junior. Simply put, we are FULL at the spot.
We're only taking 1 HS DE this year, that is well-known, unless an ELITE HS pass rusher shows interest. We're looking at 1 other elite JUCO pass rusher(Smith from EMCC).

IMO he outgrows safety early in his college career. May end up as an OLB though... I'd be interested to know the exact role Saban is recruiting him for...
I think he prefers running back... hard to really tell with the kid though. Doesn't tip his hand very much...

Could he play WR? A State scout was at a practice and asked the coaches about Ashton's catching ability. That could also be talking about safety too.

If I don't have anything super important to do, I waste the first hour of work checking email, facebook, and reading any new recruit articles. I don't follow like y'all do. I just read enough to know who everyone is and stuff so I know what's going on. I don't follow all the rumors and who went where and blah blah. I pay attention to commits and camps etc etc.
That Conner comment wasn't from a recruiting site. I didn't see anything about it. It was from y'alls Td recruiting thread. It might be wrong.

I promise you he had a commitable offer. He was called on the way back from the LSU camp to see if he was coming down to the Big Dawg camp. Sometimes kids just want to go to other schools. It happens to everyone even LSU, Bama, and USC.

I am not the one that said he didn't. I don't follow real closely. I only follow the ones that we look like we are gonna get or are going after hard, therefore I have no idea who Gray is.
