We have a DE committed. High three star, almost a four. Had offers from Clemson, FSU, Louisville, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Vandy, WVU and others.

6'6 228. Rivals has him as the 22nd best player at his position.

I guess your talking about Alvonte Bell. It listed him at 6'5'', 218 lbs. on espn.com. I can see him getting much bigger but he seems to be a bit under weight.

Watching his film, he gets off the ball well and pursue to the football but he will need to get a lot bigger.

Clowney was 6'6" when he got to S. Carolina but he was also 240#.

Yeah, that's him. Solid commitment if Stoops can keep him on board.

I tend to go by Rivals in football. They have the best coverage most years. Scout is better in basketball, and ESPN is meh.

I just use espn because its free. I can't see everything on scout but I agree.

Apparently Bell has heard from Stoops and is pretty firm in his commitment.

I'm not saying that I don't want bell but I just hope we can complement him with some nice DT's and Linebackers this year.

Looking at various recruiting news though it seems like we could pull more recruits in the secondary this year. We will see what happens though.

I was excited after the presser today. I will interested to see how our commits vs our signees look in February or whenever that is.

I think Stoops will bring in 3-4 players we would never have a shot at before... One or two from Ohio, and a couple from Florida.

They will have experience in the front 7, and a tackling machine in Avery Williamson, not to mention a secondary that will have a full season (basically) of game experience to bring in to 2013. I would like to see him make a couple of splashes on the offensive side, since that is where we happen to be lacking (some of which can be contributed to Maxwell Smith's injury and the otherwise inconsistent QB play), but I'd like to see him land someone like a Ryan Timmons that is a playmaker no matter what position he plays. I don't think it's going to happen, because I think the prospect of playing in Urban Meyer's offense at Ohio State and the possibility of playing in a NC and playing in front of 105,000 fans will be too much for us to be able to keep him home; but it's a nice thought anyway. Haha

I think it's always possible to sway someone like Timmons, especially with a coaching change, but probably not.
I do think UK will look vastly improved on defense and offense from day one, as I think Stoops will have a quality coaching staff.
It will be fun to watch.

I agree. I am very anxious to see what all Stoops is going to bring to the table, and I too believe that our team in general will be very improved, especially on defense. I just think it would be big if he could make a big recruiting splash to pick us up at least one "bonafide" playmaker for Maxwell Smith to throw to, provided he stays healthy.
