Will Grier has decided his time at UF is done and will be transferring. From what I heard it was more of UF asking him to leave and they mutually believe he needs to start fresh somewhere else. If he goes to a D1 school I believe he will have to sit out a year and still serve his suspension. He will most likely go to a smaller school somewhere.

There is a lot of speculation on why he is transferring. Supposedly UF believes he was not 100% honest with them about what happened with his PED suspension. With his suspension next year if the QB we decide on plays well it would be unwise to swap him out mid season with Grier. I am not sure it is true but I have heard Will has been known to do cocaine I heard this from more than one student currently enrolled at UF.

He wont be able to play til 7th game of his JUNIOR season in 2017 which to me means he was asked to leave....why in the hell would you transfer after already having a r/s?? Its a shame he didnt have head screwed on right and when I saw the pics of him with ex Tampa Bay Bucs cheerleader and then other sorority girls it became clear he was a party animal and couldnt control himself. Crying shame.

We are now stuck with either Del Rio or # 3 for 2016 unless we get another QB who is grad transfer. Franks needs to r/s he is skinny and not ready. I may take up badminton if # 3 is trotted out on the field....my liver cant handle it.

Oh on another note: Griewr isnt allowed to play at any SEC school or school on our schedule for four years, so the idiots on the Rant are wasting ebreath.

Its a shame because he had a lot of talent and I think could've played really well here. Based on what I am hearing he was told it was in his best interest to leave. I think Mac had a plan and it did include Grier until he messed up. Its a tough lesson to learn but he made his bed. Del Rio has been playing well in practice and with that hopefully we can develop Franks and start Del Rio next year. Either one is still better than Treon.

Del Rio will be just as bad as Treon. He was awful at OSU.

I refuse to believe anyone is as bad as Treon. He set that bar pretty high.

Grier wasn't the end all. He didn't amaze me with any of his plays, hell his biggest plays ala UT/OM came on short passes that turned into tds by WRs blocking downfield. I think ppl are just caught up in how BAD Treon was this season so any success had by another QB is magnified.

We'll be fine with any QB not named Treon next season. Del Rio, Trask or Franks will step up and run with it.

If Del Rio can be average the schedule should work in our favor. Will apparently has other issues that it's best get focused on elsewhere.

Del Rio left Oregon State because the coach he wanted to play for left and the new regime was moving to a spread offense and they recruited a QB specifically for the offense and Del Rio wasn't in that plan. He threw 18 total passes at OSU so I'm not going to judge his future on that.

Will Grier has spent much of his time the last few months in rehab for a cocaine addiction. His buddy Austin Hardin is a bad influence to say the least and Grier has needed to be closer to his support system. He may end up at ECU.

Cocaine is a stimulant under the NCAA drug policy and is therefore banned. Cocaine is considered a PED per NCAA policy. There have been rumors for awhile that it is what Will popped for on his drug test. Since it was an NCAA administered test it is a one year ban unlike what could happen if he failed a school administered test. Anything you have heard about what he popped for officially is hear say since it is the students decision to release what he failed for. . Students that attend UF have been saying that Will and Hardin are known to take cocaine.
Here is a link detailing the suspension of a Michigan B-Ball player that answers a lot of NCAA drug rules. Cocaine is listed as a PED not a street drug.

I can understand the temptations at a major college campus for athletes who are elite...and have decent looks. Grier just fell victim to the endless vices. He is still very young and can learn from this hopefully. I remember my youth and the mistakes I made.

So is there any word on where he might land?

Per Sec Country in an interview with McElwain UF put No transfer restrictions on Grier. McElwain said he signed off on several SEC schools.

I think that's what happens when your coach is confident he has a good shot against anyone on a given day.

Yes, that was a shot at aTm.

Nope. No SEC.

former Gators QB Will Grier did not get full release from scholarship. He’s banned from transferring to other SEC schools, maybe more

8 OF 18 versus backups is not good. He had accuracy issues and that was one reason why he lost his job. He may not of fit the spread but IF he isn't accurate as his former coaches have said, that's a bigger problem than not fitting a system.
