Got to say, that was an extremely difficult spot for our players. Blink at the wrong time, and you don’t see the qb decide to drop. Zero time to pull up.

And don’t forget: it’s third down, first down line is right behind you. And this qb does this strange half juke crouch move just before he actually starts sliding. He definitely needs to practice his slide move.

And the defense is probably wondering why he is sliding short of first down.

Guess they should have tackled high.

No excuses, that was a stupid arse play by our defenders. Yeah, in real time it's bang bang, but they had plenty of time to realize he was sliding and not fully commit like they did. In that spot, at that time of the game, it was almost as bad as the shoe throw.

I think we will have to disagree a bit.

Maybe it was stupid or undisciplined, but I think the speed and situation played a part. Along with stupidity of the QB.

Gators were up 15-14. Noles we’re facing a 3rd & distance. If they don’t make the first down, they punt deep and Gators might add to the mid lead.

Nole QB scrambles into the open field and slides four yards BEFORE the sticks. The Gator defenders were keen to prevent the first down.

And like is said, the QB did a weird juke, sort of crouched like he was turning, and then stuck a leg out (slide) just before the tacklers got to him.

Maybe there needs to be a rule you can only slide if you’ve gotten the first down or something. Hard for defenders when the qb changes his mind so late.

Just an example of the undisciplined play this year. Border line call but why hit the QB when he is sliding?
