I am going to defend our AD and call it smart NOT to hire Kelly. I think that the top brass decided to not hire Kelly some time ago.
NONE OF US know what is going on behind the closed doors and for good reason. This hire could come out of left field and we don't even have a clue yet. But what the frick do I know?

Uhhh, you'd be elated if we had Kelly. This is kind of why I've moved to Discord instead of the Rant -- no one reads anything here.
Kelly's a great hire, but I've always maintained that we were not going to give him the keys to the city. No coach is worth that, and I'm glad UCLA took a coach who wanted to sleepwalk through a program than have him come here and end up like McElwain.
Chip Kelly expressed several times that he didn't want the pressure of the SEC. If he wants to be a giant, sopping wet pussy let him be that. We need someone who actually wants to coach and not just CEO their way into a better job.
I'm very happy we didn't get Kelly, and I'm very happy Stricklin had the nuts to move on when Kelly exposed just how little he wanted to be a real HC.

I’m still in disbelief that UCLA can fire a coach, pay them a giant buyout, then hire the best coach on the market in 3 days while we twiddle our thumbs for weeks. Absolutely pathetic

If he's afraid of competition there's nothing we can give to him. Everything he talks about is being comfortable, because like I said: He is a pussy. Nothing he said about coaching for championships is true, he is looking to coast to an early retirement at a program that has no expectations because he doesn't have the fire to succeed in the SEC.
It has nothing to do with us, and everything regarding the personality of Chip Kelly being a bit of a cowardly weasel.
We offered him a lot more than UCLA, he just didn't want to be held accountable to succeed.
