We’ve been coachless now for 3 1/2 weeks. Apparently, we’ve been in talks with Chip for maybe 75-80% of those weeks negogiating a contract.

UCLA has been coachless for roughly 72 hours.

If Chip has really chosen UCLA, I’d like to take a step back and just think about how shitty of an administration we have in our athletic department to lose a high caliber coach like Chip. To put in all that time, man power and jet fuel to give the man everything he wants. And lose it to someone, in my mind, who offers a contract that basically reads, “Whatever you want, it’s yours.”

Just how stubborn of a UAA do we have for not wanting to win in the flagship sport of this university? It’s either Kelly or bust for another 4ish amount of years. I honestly feel as if our school has officially accepted being mediocre in football. I hate to say it, but basketball and baseball won’t be the money maker football could be.

Sunday: Kelly's agent to UCLA.
Also Sunday: I am stupid don't listen to me, he didn't go to UCLA.
Monday: UCLA Insiders say that they've moved on from Chip kelly.
Today: UCLA Insiders say Ink's dry.
Yesterday: Chip Kelly's Agents flew to LA.
Today: Chip Kellys Agents met with UCLA, but not in LA.
Today: Chip Kelly to UCLA!
Also Today: I am stupid don't listen to me, he didn't go to UCLA.

They're rumors, no one actually has verifiable sources on anything that they've said.

Also the take is that they've been talking to Kelly for a while, not just recently. They fired their coach for a hail mary because we were getting close to either signing or closing the deal, whatever you want to call it.

Needless to say: A lot of these articles are bogus, they just deleted the articles that Chip Kelly was a favorite for UCLA on the 247 site.

I disagree Finch. Obviously UF seemed as C. Kelly was the #1 choice. It doesn't mean the only choice!!

UF still has some excellent coaches to talk to and I'm sure they will interview others if need be. I'm not as invested in losing a coach as some seem. I have faith that UF will get the best they can.

Kelly is the homerun hire.
Kiffin is the triple hire by error hire.

Anybody else is considered a single. A mediocre single.

Finch, disagree completely with your premise. We don't know if the AD and staff have devoted much time to try and sign Kelly....there are OTHER coaches that we may be after. Maybe things weren't possible to make Kelly happen and if so...its for a good reason.

This is what I feared before....everyone will blame the AD if we don't sign Kelly. And guess what? We could've hired him and be firing him in 3-4 yrs also. None of us have a crystal ball to peer into the future. Kelly may be our next HC and we win multiple titles or we languish in Vol type misery.

You're assuming that there was something Florida could have done and that they didn't do it. That isn't necessarily true. Chip could have just as easily been kicking the tires while he was waiting on UCLA just in case is saw something he liked or Mora didn't get fired.

There is the possibility that there is absolutely nothing Florida could have ultimately done if UCLA was going to be on the market, and it has been a well publicized thing since before the season started that Mora was probably done for.

I think the issue would be that we didn’t get him signed before UCLA fired Mora. Talking to Kelly this long makes it seem like Kelly or bust. Kiffin would be a great hire too . Frost lack of experience scares me but most would be excited if he was the hire. Other then being a dirt bag Kiffin best available coach and dick head coaches win championships. I will be happy with Kiffin , Kelly , Frost or Mullen . UCLA and maybe A&M are the only jobs that could compete with us .

But we were never going to hire Kelly before UCLA fired Mora. Mora's seat was molten lava coming into the season, and the only thing that MIGHT have saved him was beating USC. No way Kelly, if he is as interested as it seems in UCLA, would have committed to anywhere before that game.
