Money - As a university, UCLA has FAR more money than Florida. However, they may not want to spend what Florida would be willing to in a bidding war.
Recruiting - UCLA. The state of California with people from all over the country that take recruiting g trips there just to see LA. Not to mention the pressures of FSU and Miami in the same state with Saban and Smart trying to pull some too.
Prestige - Florida. At least for football.
Championship Contention - Push. He will instantly be credible in LA and an easier path to a championship.
Facilities - Florida. But I don't know anything about their facilities
Fan Base - Florida easy. (Most people in LA are Trojan fans.). True.
Night Life - LA. (Chip doesn't seem to be a guy all about that life.)
Conference - Gonna say push, just because SEC is decent but who knows. Fair.

There are intangibles like comparing Westwood to Gainesville and we don't know if he would like being in the pressure cooker that is the SEC. UCLA is much more of an opponent than you are giving them credit for. I'd be saying the same thing about them being legit if it was Georgia in a coaching search against them.

No one should believe the @GainesvilleSun reports. UF is instructing them to calm the storm so they can make the announcement on their own terms. Chip Kelly has signed the contract to be @GatorsFB next head coach.

I dont even care anymore but heres this

Kelly is a better hire than Frost if we want someone to turn our program around.

Also to TJ: We're upgrading our facilities, too, and I'll assume that we're going to have something better than a barber shop.

I think it's signed but UF wants to announce it on their terms, so they're leaking to guys like Dooley and Andreu that it isn't done so that they can announce it their way.

The kid of the UAA president says it's done, and I'll buy that before I buy the brown nosing Gville Sun guys that NEVER break any stories or have any sources, and only report what UF wants them to say. UF doesn't want to make the announcement tonight is what I'm gathering

Weve talked to him for a month, we drew up a 300+ page contract for him, flew six representatives up to see him with a contract, and you're telling me he didn't sign it because he wants to talk to UCLA the same day they fired their coach? I don't buy that. I smell UF trying to announce this on our terms and make it appear that we beat out another big time program for him, personally

Buddy Martin and Franz Beard are saying similar things to what my thoughts on the situation are, fwiw.

Chip Kelly will be announced our head coach tomorrow fellas.

Chip Kelly has lived in New Hampshire, the city he lives in isn't based on things we'd probably like.

If you went to UCLA, half of the Bruins fans couldn't even tell you who their quarterback was. They don't care about football, which is why they've been mediocre since the dawn of time and only won their conference once since '98.

Georgia is an infinitely better job than UCLA, INFINITELY.

It's not about being a homer, it's about acknowledging that UCLA doesn't seem to care that much about football. Just Google ''UCLA Bruins Recruiting'' -- it comes up with Basketball first.

I don't think so, I still think it's a few days out. I still think it'll be before Saturday or on Saturday, we'll have to wait and see.

That being said, to sum up today:

UCLA doesn't scare me at all of ''stealing'' Chip away, and almost every reputable source who didn't immediately retract their bullshite (Andreu) is saying the same thing. Stay strong, Gators, stay strong.

Maybe as a university, but they don't choose to spend it on sports. UF's athletic budget dwarfs UCLA and brings in FAR more athletic revenue then them.

I trust you, Stricklin and Fuchs looked way too happy to not have done something extremely positive.

frick I love Stricklin.

For the rest of you: Their plane just landed in Ocala, where they were greeted by a Redditor who actually got an interview with Stricklin.

Stricklin, President Fuchs and associate ADs all on the plane. That's a pretty important group of people and a group that only gets sent up if they believe the deal is very close to being done.

Others on plane from New Hampshire to Ocala were associate ADs Lynda Tealer, Laird Veatch, Steve McClain, Mike Hill and President Kent Fuchs. #Gators

Y'all really think we're sending the university president up there for something that's not a done deal.

Spare me.

A lot of people don't really understand what it means to have Fuchs on there flying to fricking NH. It's great news. I'm still going to wait for the official thing, of course, but goddamn those Reddit guys out there made me fricking laugh so much.
