I know, I just think it was funny how cheesy he was all these last few days and how it's suddenly: Gag order everything.

Our fanbase has just showed how crazy it is these last few weeks and it's hilarious.

Any suggestion it is "only" the vetting of assistants at this point is not only inaccurate; it taxes the credulity of the credulous. Of course there is a buyout issue. One of the first issues was without question the liquidated damages issue in the buyout should Florida have to fire Kelly under the cloud of an NCAA investigation. Florida wanted to make sure (and this is an area where I'm told the largely absent Foley did make a suggestion) that it protected itself. It's about to make the most significant coaching investment in program history to fix the program. But it is doing it with a coach that doesn't come without risk. So yeah- there's stuff to work out on that front and that has also caused a delay. Keep in mind Scott Stricklin is the first outsider to run athletics at Florida in nearly half a century. Even Bill Arnsparger had ties to the state and the university. Stricklin is also known for being a risk-taker. Both of these things are good, in a way-- Florida athletics had reputably grown to insular, and lost some ability to be reflexive. But there's also value to the idea of "a championship experience with integrity." Vetting coaches Kelly wants is part of it. But so is making sure the damages figure and contractual protection is too.

Man, I'm getting really fricking tired of the snark because you don't want Chip -- and I'm tired because literally no one here has put up a timeline like that outside of myself before the FSU game.

I have said repeatedly, and this is like the fourth or fifth time in this thread: This is not going to be an easy deal. I have no doubt that Chip Kelly will be our next HC IF NOTHING REALLY BAD HAPPENS.

I said this was going to be an ugly contract -- both sides want failsafes, lifejackets, escape hatches and parachutes just in case something happens/doesn't happen/might happen. This is a multimillion dollar deal with new facilities, new coaches and a whole new swagger for Florida on the line.

I get that you don't like Kelly, but your ceaseless combat against people who aren't proclaiming what you're attacking is getting really old.

But all the announcement days gets really old too.you want this guy so bad you would wait till after NSD for the announcement.

If it's meant to be it will happen.if chipper is the guy as i have said i will be 100% supportive.but also you need to prepare that this as it is now is not going to happen

Also enough of the announcement dates PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!

My theory behind all this:

Stricklin wants Kelly and is going after him hard. Stricklin wants the same things as Kelly does as far as the infrastructure goes, ya know facilities and all that. The old guard UAA has been against the arms race so to speak.

By not denying that he is going after Kelly and letting this thing blow up the way it is, he has worked the fanbase into a Kelly or bust frenzy. People will be pissed the frick off if this actually doesn't happen.

Stricklin has put the ball in the UAA court. If they don't allow this to just happen and get with the times, then I don't know how you can be mad at Stricklin. He basically went after the big fish, caught him and the UAA is going to throw him back. I believe as a former sports information director he is letting the UAA/booster anti Kelly stuff leak out. A pissed off fanbase that is loud on social media is his best leverage to those in the ivory tower right now.

TL;DR This is UFs Saban/Harbaugh hire and Stricklin is all about it and putting the UAA in an uncomfortable spot to get them to play ball.

Absolutely not. But I would absolutely give Chip Kelly some leeway to get him to come to Florida. Any person who doesn't want a guy who put Oregon on the map -- Oregon, and playing against teams that are in California rich with talent is just crazy.

He has no buyout, he's not going to Tennessee or another school outside of Florida and he really, really wants the Florida job because it's shockingly easier than other schools. He's a fit for the program with an outstanding offense.

In the end: No one's giving dates, I'm giving it until the FSU game because I know for a fact that they want him to talk to the recruiting class. If there's no deal before that, we're going to be in for a shock.

This is a very, very extreme circumstance. Kelly hasn't denied the allegations or rumors and has baggage, he is also one of the hottest names around and has no clear ''favorite'' or ties to alma-mater things along those lines, so he has a unique position to negotiate. On top of that, we're very desperate to turn our program around.

This is a very, very unique negotiation.

100% true to the T. This is exactly what is happening because I've felt that some of these leaks are a little ''on purpose'' and I know for a fact that the President and Stricklin are both prepared to give into the demands made by Kelly yesterday.

The problem is that we have a lot of old guys who seemingly cannot keep themselves out of the program, the UAA wants more control over the program and Kelly wants the goddamn program to himself as any HC would. That's why they're so thrilled with Frost -- he's young and he's in no position to tell them no, whereas Kelly who we need desperately would waste no time in saying ''nah, I'm gonna do what I want''.

If this deal falls through, it will not have been the fault of Stricklin, and the UAA needs to understand that it's better to invest and do well in football than let there be empty seats.

If the UAB game is empty, the timeframe for the announcement will be jumpstarted -- and it will be.

If the UAA fricks this up, we're toast. I know it's not pretty, but I hope if we can't get Kelly/Frost that we do go for Strong. He wouldn't be that exciting of a hire, but I feel like he'd be a decent hire for us, and that he can get it done.

If we're not fricking around with the team like I have said in my suspicions. It's just so weird how every single offense every year no matter who the HC, no matter who the OC, looks exactly the same.

It's almost like the elders are obsessed with the Bama Blueprint but have no idea that we can't run it without the Bama recruiting.

Unless all the chipper stuff is all fake news we will not get Frost(who was my first choice)either.why would he come to UF now knowing he was second choice when he would BRASKA'S first and main choice if we do not get chipper now we are screwed.

Frost is probably going to Nebraska at this point. I wouldn't even think it likely that he will.

As for Chip Kelly, just follow the timeline.

It's stated that Chip Kelly is the front runner one week before anyone actually talks about it.

Then UF officially declares that it is vetting Chip Kelly.

It's reported Chip Kelly has spoken with a prior UF HC, which my assumption is Urban Meyer.

A few days after that, things start to get delayed -- and suddenly there are some random anonymous sources who declare that Chip Kelly wants all control over the football program and that the UAA doesn't want to give it to him.

Chip Kelly will be the HC unless the UAA wants to lose the entire Gator fanbase.

Too be fair, Chip wanted all control in the NFL. This isn’t something out of the blue.

It's the timing of the rumors is what I'm pointing to. He also doesn't like to schmooze, but that's easily taken care of. Florida upper management has been obsessed with the team by MY eye since Urban wanted to leave.

I just can't imagine that Adazzio, Weiss, Pease, Roper and Nussmeier all have the same ''offensive'' vision with almost no difference over all the years of offensive mediocrity.

I also can't imagine any other reason why in the frick we'd be making it so hard to hire Chip Kelly if he legitimately reached out/is interested outside of they don't want that type of offense/don't like his character, which is retarded.
