I don't understand why people do not want him as a coach at UF. So he is a prick, so what? apparently Mac was the biggest jerk (behind the scenes) to ever walk the sidelines at UF.

I hear that he is not good against the top 25. He is at Mississippi fricking State. Coaching purgatory. He had that program as the #1 team in the country in the first ever college football playoff ranking.

He has a track record of hiring good DC's. QB would never be a problem. Teams would be pounded into oblivion. We would have exciting offenses again.

The man understands the SEC especially the west. The east would be a cakewalk for him. He has experience at UF. Our last dynamic offense we ever had was when he was the OC.

MSU was a perennial 3-9 program when was hired and now they go bowling every year. The 7-8 win seasons he had at MSU would be 9-10 win seasons at UF and his 10-11 win seasons at MSU would be playoff caliber teams at UF. He has a good relationship with our current AD.

I can not take anyone seriously that thinks Dan Mullen could not win big at UF.

I agree. I feel like we gotta a least call Stoops though.

It wouldn't be a UF coaching search without getting turned downed by Stoops

I'll take it a few steps forward:

He's got ties to Florida already, won a championship here.

He recruits SEC level talent at basically the Vanderbilt of the West and turned them into mid-tier, almost top-tier.

He has an offense we want.

He can manage a program, and utilize lesser talent to keep himself close for most games.

If he can fricking recruit at Moo State, he can fricking recruit at Florida. I also think he's our best chance of keeping the class in tact.

made another post about mullen in another thread so i won't elaborate.

mullen is about as close to a sure thing as we can get. he's also a very seasoned, proven head coach and will only be 46 at the stat of next season.

Yep, I definitely want someone energetic -- but not like Smart and Muschamp who only seem to ever yell at their players. Every time I see their sideline it's like they killed someone.

I know Mullen goes crazy, but I suppose crazy is what wins.

I remember when he was UFs OC. I was at a bar in Gainesville. We where winning like 42-0. These people bitching about the offense next to me said all he does is run Tebow and throw to Harvin and I said "what the frick more do you need to do if you got those 2?!?" I hope those people that were bitching in that bar have loved all these offenses since where we go away from what's working and we don't feed our playmakers.

Can you imagine Mullen with:

Corral, Toney, Chase, Copeland, Cleveland, Davis, Perine, Lemons, Pearce?

Holy frick, man.

I shudder to think of what will be if he comes to Florida and runs his offense with much better raw, natural talent.

I'm not crazy about Mullen the hunchback. sorry. He'll need a case of Mountain Dew for home games. Moo State is mid tier really and they have not really achieved shite...y'all will be calling for his head quick.

frick Stoops, too old and forget Chip Kelly who hates to recruit. Forget the pirate, we would need a dynamic winner who will chew out players and asst coaches...I don't care anymore...frick it. This is the University of Florida, time to get bold and get us a winner who can kick arse. Hate to say it...but it could be a young asst coach who is ready to lead the charge. Don't many HCs who fit UF and the ones with wide open offenses aren't the answer necessarily.

If were the HC right now I would be breathing pure fire at the OL and making changes wholesale at coaching staffs and starters. frick being laid back. I would probably have destroyed the damn locker room.

Mississippi State has bowled 20 times in the entire history of their program -- 7 of them have come under Mullen and in the hardest Division of college football while playing second-banana to their in-state rivalry all of those years.

If he can do that at the Vanderbilt of the West, he can do much better here at Florida -- recruiting would be a breeze in comparison to what he has to do over there.

Ok...heres hard facts from Wiki before you decide that Mullen would be the best choice:

5-7
9-4
7-6
8-5
7-6
10-3
9-4
6-7

That's his record at Miss State.

His record in the west division? He finished 2nd one year and never was higher than 4th other than that. Was 5th twice and tied for 5th twice, 4th once and tied for fourth once.

Well everyone wants proven winners....we don't have time for 9-3 seasons...our fanbase is too obnoxious for that. Any coach coming here is going to realize they will have short shelf life unless they win the SEC.

Every SEC school except Vandy, Moo State, Ark or UK have high expectations and want Ws. Its a pressure cooker in the SEC except really for those schools listed imo.

i have no doubt that mullen win 10+ games a season here and compete for the east every year.

i think mac has kinda done himself in with off the field stuff. at the start of this week i had no reason to think mac wouldn;t be back, but trying to fit a square peg in a round hole hasn't helped him either.

I just realized something. Let’s say we do hire him and he turns out bad. Can Stricklin fire him? Like will he have the balls to fire him? Or will his “buddy logic” get the better of him?

don't think that would matter. crazy thing about mullen is he has accomplished more as an oc than any of these "up and coming" "younger" coaches have. also more accomplished as a head coach. the job he's done at state is much more impressive than anything a new coach has done at a glorified fcs program.

mullen is only 45 years old.
