There is a huge difference between Leak and Jones, though, and that being that Leak was a senior in his greatest year, Jones is fresh out of high school.

Leak was pretty solid his freshman year. To be honest if you could offer me freshman Leak production from any of our QBs this year I'd take it in a heartbeat.

Leak was a way more polished thrower than Emory going into college, though, and Leak was almost exclusively a pocket passer despite his speed. Not a great comparison.

There are guys who grew up playing football, had dads as coaches etc. etc. who can play their first year (Bentley). The problem with Quarterbacks is that the development curve is very steep, and can take a while. Grier is another guy who just seemed to get it right away without needing to step on the field.

Hopefully, one of the other quarterbacks is developed enough to the point where Jones can learn without much pressure.

Leak was the Gatorade National Player of the Year as a senior in N. Carolina. Zook could recruit....but starting Leak early cost him his job eventually...as no one gave him slack for a very young team. Urban took over a loaded team with an upperclassmen defense and it took him two years to win big.

So what’s he going to do when he gains that game experience?”

Douggie still pissed that Franks fricked up his TD play.

I can't disagree, though. If you're in the same year as another player with a two star advantage and an entire year more than him and you can't definitively pull away, there is something very wrong with the picture.

This is the second QB to come out and just thrash Franks.
