I have a memory of going to the Tampa game and walking out disgusted. I thought it was the QB that transferred from UF to UM but it doesn’t say that. I was also at the game where said QB was the UF transfer.

Damn I’m getting old and forgetful.

2003 Miami v Florida

Brock Berlin

Florida choked a 33-10 lead in the 3rd quarter and lost 33-38.

That’s right. They say you suppress bad memories. Both those games sucked.

Leak was a true frosh and Ingle was a punter/QB and not good at either...he was injured and leak came in and was color blind leading to quick UM score and it went downhill from there.

Zook was a helluva recruiter and Leak was a national Gatorade player of the year....but Zook recruited the defense that helped us and Urban win the second NC.

Absolutely. he wasn't a good game day coach but he did work his arse off and could recruit hard.

Zook also recruited for Spurrier and kept the pond stocked. He was an excellent special teams coach and even ended up as the Saints DC before coming back to UF. As a head coach and game day coordinator he just couldnt get the job done. He handled defense more than offense and we were ragged on offense...but defensive teams of his were usually stout. People forget that he hung the only loss on LSU when Saban coached there in their NC year.

He also lost to the worst msu team in twenty years.

He was frustratingly inconsistent.

He also had a ridiculously hard schedule.

We played UM in Tampa back in Kerwins first year and had the lead in 1984 when they came back with just minutes left. We fired Pell shortly after because of the NCAA police knocking on the door, but we tied LSU and then won out and was considered the NC but AP wouldnt vote on us.

Captain Kangeroo was our new HC and it was frustrating to say the least. The next year we tied Rutgers after leading and clearly beating up the Scarlett Knights...but the HC at Rutgers was an old buddy of Galen Hall and Hall pulled starters early in the game, including Kerwin. In came Rodney, an excellent baseball player but not so good of a QB, he fumbled and bumbled and it took putting Kerwin back in to manage a tie.

I’m now thinking it was 84. My girl at the time had just graduated and bought us the tickets. Her dad was the county attorney at the time.

Yeah we should have won that game, but let Miami come back and then we tried a Hail Mary which Miami picked off and ran all the way back for a TD on the last play of the game to make the final margin not even look close.
