Meh. Wonder if we'll still pursue Davis Webb out of Texas Tech.

I agree but McElwain has to take all the precautionary measures to ensure that Treon never takes another snap at QB.

He will compete with Del Rio and lets see where the chips fall. It gives us insurance and we all should know how important that is. The kid has size and arm strength..and just because he is from Purdue, dont let that interfere with judgement of him...I watched Purdue give a few teams in the Big Ten lots of trouble the past two years but they didnt have supporting cast to last in the ring.
Appleby has never played with talent like we have....not even close.

He's got just as many interceptions as he does touchdowns, we seriously don't need a kid like him.
I wanna see Del Rio, this guy is just there to add some more bodies so we never run into what we have with Guy, Grady and Harris.
AKA Zero quarterbacks.

Well, Driskel did do well at LA Tech, so there's a possibility he could change. Who knows?
438 yards, 3 touchdowns in his last collegiate game. 8th game for over 300 yards -- he had none at Florida.

Shane Matthews was unknown in spring of 1990 after being suspended for gambling.....thats right, gambling along with our 1989 starter Kyle Morris the year before. You never know what the future holds.
Im just happy we have someone who can compete with Del Rio that has starting experience for two years at a FBS school. We need all the help we can get.
I think the OL will be improved and that alone helps. Our starting senior center wont be missed by me...Treon fielded like a shortstop against Michigan. Ankle to knee high were most snaps and that hurts the vision of a QB. Dillard will be our center and will have 3 years previous stay at UF and has started at center and would have been our starter all year most likely except for Ivy being inserted as starter at guard and then Thurman was moved to center. Jordan will be a candidate to be a starter at center....but he did have almost all his snaps at guard and if he doesnt get beat out at guard...may remain there. Dillard isnt as viable to move to guard. We will have depth and Im interested to see how Fred Johnson develops...he is huge physically and with improved footwork can lock down ROT. We'll see. The left side with Sharpe and Ivy should be solid. I think Ivy will remain at guard unless Johnson doesnt improve much and then he may shift to ROT....but I think he stays at guard and Sharpe leaves after this year and Ivy could move then to LOT possibly. Every OT we recruit isnt going to be a tackle and if you are under 6'6" then you may be inside. Its funny how all the kids recruited out of high school are tackles and a lot of them never play that position in college.

Mac is the QB whisperer, im sure he can work with him. Even if its for the backup spot.
Imo all of this is to push Treon down the roster. So im all for it.

His whispering didn't work for Treon, should have been yelling!!!!

Treon is deaf. Mac shoulda used sign language.

I said QB Whisperer. Treon is not a QB

Sometimes a change is all thats needed
Steve Young anyone?
Not saying this kid will be the next Danny Wuerffel but being in a better situation can go a long way in seeing what he can really do

Already corrected myself by bringing up Driskel, but I predicted he'd be good with a better support structure around him.

It's good because i would prefer to have him play then Treon but we don't need 5 QB with 2 of them being freshmen . Treon needs to go , so the coaches can focus on the freshmen and Del Rio.

Appleby is 6'5" 240 so he has the prototype size you look for and seems to have head screwed on tight. Right now we need someone to compete with Del Rio with college experience besides Treon. Our true frosh will not be ready and need a redshirt.
Spring will tell us a lot about what we have or dont have. If Del Rio or Appleby light fire to our defense, then we could be looking at a very good year and the opposite conversely.
2017-18 should be a banner time for us as long as we keep the defense stocked.

Defense hasnt been a problem since what ? 07? When we lost like 8 starters to the draft.
We ll be fine as long aa we can keep this staff together

Appleby is coming for the coaching than playing. I don't expect much
