The Oct. 6 game at The Swamp against LSU will kick off at 3:30 p.m. and televised on CBS, the SEC announced Monday.

Also Monday, running back Dameon Pierce was named SEC Freshman of the Week.

The weekly honor is the first of Pierce’s career with the Gators and comes after a solid rushing performance in Florida’s 47-21 win over Tennessee.

The Bainbridge, Ga. native rushed for 63 yards on seven carries against the Volunteers. He also scored for the second straight game and his 47-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter sealed the victory for the Gators.

Through four games, Pierce is the Gators’ leading rusher with 228 yards on 21 attempts and averages 10.7 yards per run.

The Gators are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Starkville for an SEC matchup with Mississippi State at 6 p.m. on ESPN.

It'd be a shame if they ran him at least ten times a game with Scarlett.

A real shame, I tell you.

Give him the damn ball and if Toney can keep his head, put him in the Percy position to at least get some guys out of the box on run plays.

And yet I'm an idiot for saying he should get more carries.

No one disagrees. I think one thing Mullen has always kind of been bad at is getting freshman the ball. He seems to like to reward older players Miss State fans told us this and it seems true. I think Pierce gets more carries as the year goes on and Mullen is more comfortable with him on the field. Add in he seems to be a big team guy now. He had eye black for Davis on his eyes last game. He is the first to celebrate a TD. When Pierce scored his first TD Scarlett was the first person on the sidelines jacked up and pounding him in happiness. That means something. This team NEEDS players like him. Yes he messed up. But it's clear he is in this and putting in the effort to be a good leader. That is worth a lot for s growing team.

Scarlett isn't the same. But Scarlett does block incredibly well in the backfield in comparison to the other backs. So I think that and being a veteran is why he is the start. And use more two back sets. We could do a lot of damage with those sets.
