I'm not sure I feel that way. My thought is that I'd like AR to red shirt if possible.

Some of you guys have said that you'd prefer to have AR start even if we lose games. That's crazy. If we are going to lose games then I'd rather have EJ take them and let AR mature and learn the play book better.

Let AR get better at passing and running the offense. AR can play in 3 more games and still RS if I understand red shirt rules. Putting AR in for the Alabama game and have him be overwhelmed could even be a set back.

How do you guys look at this situation?

If you’re going to lose then why not make the move now and let AR get as much game experience as he can?

Maybe.

I did hear them discussing things on the radio today. Another issue that could arise is that he decides to transfer. We also have 2 freshmen behind AR and they may decide to move while they have a chance. It's a tricky situation and while it seems a feelgood choice to move AR into a starting position is it the right one.

Moot point then. Transfer could be a possibility. I’m really just trying to get other opinions. Not that one is right and the other wrong.

I'm a big fan of the Del Rio kid. He strikes me as having a similar skill set to AR.

What we saw from EJ game 1 was not good. I have no problem him starting against USF, but if he struggles against USF that'd be two consecutive bad games against crap opponents. If that happens, he needs to be benched. Hopefully he lights it up against USF, we shall see.

I say again… protect Ar15. Don’t start him against bama.

Barring an injury to Jones, I don't think AR could possibly start against Alabama. It's just not in Mullen's coaching DNA to move on that quickly without toting a loss or two. I really hope it's not two though, because that almost certainly blocks us from Atlanta even if Florida beats Georgia.

This weekend against USF I'd like to see AR's 2nd quarter drive focus on intermediate passing plays. We already know he can run. Against FAU, Emory looked incompetent on any pass more than 5 yards beyond the LOS. That early 3rd down conversion to Copeland in the first drive was the only exception I can think of offhand. So, if Anthony Richardson shows he can complete these intermediate passing plays then that changes things. Maybe if its get ugly against Alabama he moves to Richardson and that settles the QB question.

Otherwise, I feel this will require at least another loss, or near loss. It's not that I view the return trip to Atlanta as being terribly urgent. I just know that if Florida has two losses entering that Georgia game, the players won't have the same intensity. Beating Georgia this year is more important than ever.

Protect him in what regard? Physically, mentally? I don’t get this statement. I’m sure the kid would give his left nut to start against Bama and we have fans babysitting him.

At this rate, you might as well make me VP of your AR15 committee .

His confidence. Getting massacred in your first start is not the best confidence builder. Get him some reps certainly use him.

yeah, i wouldn't start AR for Bama. but if it got ugly, you couldn't help but put him just to get the reps for experience. starting is too much of a shock, but if you're already down 21+, there's not much pressure on you. go through the motions, get your reads, build some confidence, and show you're capable of starting against Tenn/UK.

Why do people act like all athletes are weak? AR moves towards the future. He can take his lumps as most of the greats have. If he provides a better chance to win, he should start. That easy. If Baja can start a fresh, so can Florida.
