Mac did do some god things...he did sign some decent talent and he was as fed up with LSU fans calling us pussies as the players and that 2016 game will forever be remembered.
Where Mac failed was his personal interactions with the admins and the staff at UF and his off limits type of body shield. Mullen is a clean breath of air and although I wasn't thrilled about his hiring...it didn't take me long to buy in 110%. His love and appreciation for UF shows in everything he does and says.
Mac is gone and so it shall be. An ancient memory already. We are heading to the top eventually and I hope its soon...at my age there are no guarantees.

Mac also recruited far to many projects. Our blue Chip ratio was horrible under him and his average star ranking was absurdly low. Mullen is bringing both up. Hopefully we close out strong. He did last year so I have hope.

McElwain was specifically brought in to set up the Alabama system at Florida. He and his staff seemed to be the only people unaware of this. How the frick are you the OC while Saban builds his machine and come here acting like you didn't learn a goddamn thing. What did he do in Tuscaloosa?
I think a lot of fans are expecting Mullen to come set up the Urban system again, which will probably leave them sadly disappointed. Mullen has shown a lack of ruthlessness, the kind of thing that might be the difference between a top 10 class and a top 3 class - are you pushing every button on every kid, regardless of the long term effect if will have on your program?
That being said, I think the "Mullen Way" is plenty sufficient for us to have a great football team year in and out. The true difference will be whether the administration, the boosters, etc want to commit to making Florida a top 5 destination for coaches and athletes. That means a lot more money, more staff, more facilities, more everything.

The problem was Mac didn't hide his displeasure of how far behind the facilities were at UF compared to Bama. He was uptight once he saw the proposed football project was going to take longer than he was told when hired.
UF should not be so damn far behind in having state of the art football facilities. Recruits see UF and compare it to AU, Bama, UGA and guess what? It does sway some top athletes away. Mullen is good at polishing a turd and selling it. He approaches things differently and is 110% positive and it helps that Stricklin and he had previous experience together at MSU.

shite...Northwestern has a nicer IPF than UF
That said, McElwain just didn't work out. I was bummed given his experience in the SEC as well as doing a nice job at CSU.
Glad Mullen has been doing a great job. As long as the QB play is up to par and improving going forward, that's one thing I'd love to see fixed for long term. Mullen has done a really nice job here and glad he's our coach.

Uh what?
No rational UF fan wants the "Urban" system here again. In case you don't remember, despite the success, we had a bunch of shady shite happen under Urban.
And what do you mean about Mullen not being ruthless? On recruiting? He hasn't completed this cycle yet with his first full season.
He's also been very clear regarding his expectations of the football team. UF is a place that should be competing for titles. Look at the quotes from the players this year. They WANT to play for him.

I think there is clearly a subset of Florida fans that expect Mullen to land #1-#3 recruiting classes every year just like Meyer did, and that shite just is not going to happen.
If you can't see how Mullen's desire to be a great coach and field a team that loves to compete contrasts with Meyer's desire to literally win at all costs, damn the consequences to the players, the university, his family, and his own health and how that is reflected in their assistant hires, their recruiting, and the maintenance of their programs, I don't know what to tell you. Ruthlessness is the only way I know how to describe it.
If 2019 Dom Easley is across the table from Dan Mullen on Dec 29th, is he going to say "God sent me a vision that you would play for me"?
Give me Mullen 10/10 times, but I also understand he's going to come up short head2head against coaches willing to say or do anything more often than not.
