I can't imagine not getting at least a "big" hire if not a homerun.

I saw the latest headline, saying Gundy is the front runner. I know he's been vocal about Boone Pickens not "running the show" in Stillwater, and for the past 9 months or so, people here have been saying he's not happy at OSU. This would be a perfect opportunity for him to leave, should UF offer him the job. He's a solid coach, and a good recruiter. His main downfall, imo, is that he's only beaten OU once in his career, as a HC. On the other hand, he's not able to recruit at the same level as OU, BUT he would be able to pull in ridiculous talent at UF.

His biggest upside is being a man. Biggest downside is no longer being 40.

I like Gundy, mainly because he has proven he has an eye for talent. He's also known to develop offensive guys. Scares me a bit because how much emphasis will he place on defense? Big question Mark imo.

Also, I'd be pissed if UF settled for McElwain. That would be awful.

People bring up Meyer to justify McElwain but their success at this point isn't close to comparable.

I think Meyer had a pretty solid defense while not having a defensive mind (thanks to his hire) and I think the same is possible for Gundy.

Really what I like about him, and sure he hasn't beaten OU very often: He can make things happen with little possibilities in recruiting. In my opinion, that's the kind of guy we need. Someone who can make work with little.

The funny thing is Gundy is the only coach who's team has kept Baylor under 20 points in the last 4 years.

Meyer also had Greg Mattison in his back pocket as his AOS. Then keeping Strong as well. The staff was loaded on D under Meyer those first few years.

That's what I mean, with the right supporting cast I think it can happen.

Only team to hold Baylor under 20 points

Also did not know this.

I think Vegas may have gotten this one right, and that's our next head coach.

I agree.

I still think a defensive minded coach could get the job. A lot of people misinterpreted what foley said.

It's a possibility, but public perception is: No more defensive HC's at Florida.

I think he has to cave in to the public on this one.

Maybe. Stoops is defensive minded. A lot of UF fans want him.

He said he wanted a guy that had been sucessful offensively before not an offensive minded coach. Stoops, Graham, and Patterson fit the mold of defensive guys with dynamic offenses.

Exactly. That's what I meant when I said people have misinterpreted what Foley said in his pc.

I'd take a pass on Stoops -- but I do think a coach with a defensive background could get the job.

I just think the political angle is too steep to overcome.

Not a ton of rumors out there today's...

Brian Kelly's name seems to be popping up some thanks to Chris Mortenson.

On the local radio station today in Clemson they were talking about an article on Clemson Insider where Dabo is being considered by Foley as a top candidate for the job. Their argument on why he would be a good fit is he can recruit, his team has one of the best defenses in college ball and his offense has normally been really good. Not to mention he recruits the state of Florida better than Muschamp has. Personally don't know how I feel about him right now.
