2018 stats.

New HC, garbage OL with a Quarterback who has thrown 3 passes in his entire career.

Mullen deserves to be fired if he drops this game.

Williams may be decent we shall see. I mean the kid was a top 100 overall player so not like he was lacking out of high school.

So was Franks if I remember right.

In fact, this entire game screams 2017.

New hot QB, bad offensive line.

The only difference is that McElwain actually had a few years in his system and had worked with Franks before as a Freshman.

This is an entirely new system with a cherry head coach who isn't even an expert in offense, he's defensively minded.

We finna eat.

Williams is actually the QB I didn’t want to win the job. I wanted Martell or Perry to win it.
Perry can’t throw to save his life and Martell hasn’t seen real action or the top shelf in his mommas kitchen.
I like the Williams kid.

I do too. Glad we’re getting him early. He’s better than both Martell and Perry.

Williams has one completion in his entire career and is the least mobile of the three. If there were ever a guy to tee off on, it would be him.

Guys who run the ball scare me because if they have a great day, they can ruin pass rush and open things up. I don't think Tathan would have made a difference, but I also think it's much more of a wild card.

Regardless, one of the other QBs will play. Throwing against two future NFL Cornerbacks, two returning starter safeties and a veteran defensive line while having a really weak offensive line.

Yikes.

Straws before Jones was out of high school last year you were acting like he would immediately start.

This guy was higher rated out of high school, so to assume he will be auto-awful is a bit weird. Williams has the most pure talent of the three. He may not be ready, but he is certainly a bigger threat than Tate's tiny arse and Perry's inability to throw in a straight line lol

We should win comfortably, but he is probably their best overall QB right now.

I'm not assuming he will be awful, I'm assuming he will be throwing his first passes against an NFL defense. We have an NFL player at every level of our defense -- both starting corners, several defensive linemen, 100% a LB (Reese) and probably a safety, even if one sits out.

He'll be doing it for the first time at a neutral site, throwing to receivers he hasn't been working with all Spring, Summer and Fall because he's been splitting reps.

He's been splitting reps behind an offensive line that will likely be starting three underclassmen including a true freshman going up against three redshirt seniors and a junior.

Even our defensive backups for the front seven have more experienced players than their offensive line. Our three deep doesn't have a single true freshman. source

He'll be fine, just not against the Gators. Our DL is going to absolutely murder that offensive line and Williams. Like I said: If they were playing one of the more mobile guys, anything can happen.

tl;dr

The Pocket-Passer sitting behind a shite offensive line throwing to guys after splitting reps the entire off-season in his first real time college game going up against a veteran defense?

Uh, yeah. He's probably not going to have a great day.

We aren't an NFL defense dude...saying that kind of stuff makes us look delusional as hell. We are a very good defense, but not an NFL defense.

I'm just saying don't discount his ability to throw. He will obviously make mistakes, and we should beat them with either three at QB. He is the only real threat to beat us down the field though if some of our newer DB's make a mistake he could possibly make us pay.

I still see us blowing this game out mind you..just saying he may be pretty decent we don't know till we line up.

Zuinga, Shuler, Davis, Greenard, Wilson, Henderson, Dean and one of the safeties for sure are all going. As the season goes on that will elevate.

I'm saying more players on defense are going to the NFL than not if they're starting right now.

Okay. Cool. I don't see any reason to think he'll just suddenly open it up after having never played in college behind a bad line with a first year HC while splitting reps the entire off-season.

You guys have some serious PTSD from McElwain and Muschamp.

Not really. I've said multiple times we beat them badly. I'm simply saying assuming a very highly touted kid will auto suck isn't fair.

He will suck against our defense and will get to enjoy the taste of Orlando's grass more than once.
