Josh Hammond said Feleipe Franks was signing the fight song in the locker room to celebrate with the #Gators.

I told my stepson before the game that it would be a very tough game and we'd probably be behind at halftime and pull it out late in the game. Savage has gotten our team to be the better conditioned team in the 4th qt.

Some games are meant to be won or lost, according to Spurrier himself.

We are 3-0 and have UT and Towson next. I hope and pray that the OL can gell. I hated seeing Zuniga in the second half with an ice pack on his leg. Franks has a serious injury and probably done for a while.

Trask looked good, but also remember by then that UK had lost 2 starters in their already thin secondary, one to targeting and one to injury. We couldn't run to save our lives and I agree that Pierce should get a lot more snaps. I was hoping Mullen would call for bombs by Trask since they were helpless.

If OL improves, there is no reason we cant win at least 10 games. Our WRs are weapons. Defense needs basic training to learn how to tackle and we miss CJ. UK picked on Elam early a few times...but didn't need to pass much since they carved us up running. We had no business winning the game but I'll take it.

Trask looked better and did what I said he could do better: Throw it downfield.

They had a weak secondary the entire game.

Playcalling, at this point, is infinitely more important than OL and I've said it over and over again.

We need more misdirections, spread the team all four quarters. Threaten them with the deep pass, threaten them with short passes, jet sweeps and north south runs.

Kentucky was completely unprepared for the option. I expect that the playbook will open.

The play calling was so much better late

Straws we used the option before several times when Franks was QB and it usually worked well. Its not a play we use often because then teams prepare for it. But Trask executed it very well with a last split second shotput toss to score.

The only downfall to the play is that if the pitchout isn't perfect it can lead to lost fumbles.....another reason for it not being called much.

Play calling when you cant run is very challenging. Especially when you consider Mullens while philosophy is based on creating numbers for the run game. Problem is. We cant block one on one so the numbers dont matter. None of the QBs are elite. So we cant rely on them to win big games alone and think that will work very often. Not sure what the answer is to fixing our run blocking..but hope it gets figured out like last year.

My final observations.

Positives;
Trask played well in relief or Franks
4th quarter defense improved
This team never quits
Our receivers are great
playcalling in the 4th quarter

Negatives
Both lines got pushed around for most of the night
Playcalling the first 3 quarters, particularly in the red zone.
DBs continue to struggle.
Still way too much showboating and lack of discipline. Mullen has to get this under control.
We need more rotation at RB. Pierce and Davis need more touches.
