These #'s are mostly for me (thru CSU game):
Short Passes: 21 - 23 (91%)
Intermediate Passes: 4 - 20 (20%)
Deep Passes: 2 - 7 (29%)
Short passes continue to be Franks' bread and butter, but the pass selection is peculiar considering his handicap.
Intermediate/Deep passes make up over 50% of his pass selection in spite of being 6 - 27 (22%). Will update for Tennessee game soon, as it should help with his deep statistics as well - giving credibility to those saying that the deep ball is somewhat a specialty for him.

Pass selection through UT game:
Short Passes: 25 - 27 (92%)
Intermediate Passes: 6 - 31 (19%)
Deep Passes: 5 - 10 (50%)
61% of the passes are Intermediate/Deep. (27% of passes are completed at this range.)

I’m torn between reading this or not. I like the information and thoughts but not the banter.
If that makes sense. The team as a whole is looking better prepared and cohesive.

Yes, she's my girlfriend. Now I can't spite Finch.

To others who want the information and not the banter:
Franks is extremely accurate, way above average, in his short passes.
He is in the 100s in the intermediate to deep range.

Franks is behind in his reads. That is why he has bad intermediate routes. Those throws typically require a QB to see it open up before it does. It is an improvement over last year were he never saw it. Hopefully he can continue to improve.
There have been a lot of drops on intermediate routes. The WR and TE needs to clean that up.
I am much happier with his play overall with getting out of negative plays by throwing it away or running when things are not there.
Only 2 INTs in 4 games that is less than the FSU game last year.

The Kentucky game was where there were drops on both sides of the ball, as well as CSU. The ones in CSU were kind of wishy washy because the throw out of the backfield to Scarlett needed a lot more air under it.
The one against I think it was Lewis was more because the CSU player was literally tackling him before the ball got there -- so I didn't fault us for that incompletion.
But I mean, this has been happening in every game we've played so far and even a lot last year. Not sure why Florida gets so few pass interference penalties when defensive backs literally tackle our players before the ball is even close.

He's getting better at this as the weeks go on, his reading speed is very slow, though, and it causes him to throw it away rather than scramble for a few yards. There have been tons of times where the OL parted and he cold have just ran up the field for 6 - 10 yards instead of throwing it away/being sacked.

There were a lot of defenders dropping his passes in the Kentucky game (as evidenced before). However, we've also had very easy games these last two weeks, especially against Tennessee.
Hopefully, as I said: He will continue to use this year as a way to get comfortable in the pocket and make the shorter passes. I understand fans are a bit restless and want our vertical game, but I don't think Franks is anywhere close to being near 50% of his downfield passes, regardless of drops it wouldn't make up enough to have even 30% (which is closer to the average).
Checkdowns and simple passing patterns/reads will help him get accustomed to the game.
Oh, and don't let him run anymore. He almost died last weekend.

So you don’t trust Mullins evaluation of the QBs ?
Who should start over Franks and why ? There is no reason for Trask to start because he has less talent and experience then Franks . Jones is a better fit for the offense and also has a lot of talent but he may not be ready to start because he is only a true freshmen. If Jones catches on to the offense and Mullen thinks he is ready then he should get some playing time unless he wants to redshirt. If you bench Franks for Trask then Franks transfers after the season. And we pray that Jones or a true freshmen will be ready to start or we suck next year . There is no reason to start a different QB .

I trust man's ego will hold him back from changing his mind. This isn't new to Mullen. Remember Tyler Russell when the entire world knew Dak Prescott was better and it took him getting a concussion before Mullen would change his mind?

It entirely depends on what our expectations are this year. Trask is undeniably a better passer theoretically. In the small gametime experience he's had, he's protected the ball and made some very tight passes, the third and long when it mattered. (Our third and long numbers are awful).
For Jones, he offers, I believe, a more consistent play at running the ball but we're obviously not going to try the AUburn run 80% but use spread elements.
In the end, I don't expect anyone else to start, even though I think both choices offer something better than what Franks does talent wise. Trask throws better, Jones is more agile and more of an athlete.
It's way too late to change QBs at this point, but it doesn't change the fact that Franks is the last weak link on the team. You literally can't complain about any other position last two months than the one hitting 50% and stalling drives.
And who cares if Franks transfers? He's not going to beat out either of the Jones' in 2020, so him transferring one year earlier doesn't do anything.
Franks, until he proves it, does not have a future at QB. Look at NFL QBs and see how many keep their jobs with 47% of their passes completed. Worst of all we've only played an FCS, a team who lost to an FCS, the second worst team in the SEC and Kentucky.

Yeah, just a blister he’s been dealing with on his middle finger since the first week of camp. So not an “injury” but something that will hurt his accuracy.

Yeah, he’s the most accurate of the QBs
I mean, it's literally what everyone who actually watches practice (Nick De La Torre is a writer who covers the Gators) -- and of course you can also see it in the Spring Game highlighted by how many contested passes he completed (7) to Franks (0) and (8) passes completed at the intermediate level vs. Franks (0).
He's never seen an opposing defense, but it's no secret that Trask is a better pure passer than Franks.
You guys gotta stop acting like I'm kicking your dog every time I say something that's unflattering about your boyfriend.

I was laughing at the “undeniably better theoretically” phrasing
No worries my man
Watch your mouth about my quarterbacks though

I literally couldn't think of a better way to say that.
I mean, he passes better in practice/scrimmage but there's no way to know if that translates to the game, so it's just in theory (until he proves it either way in real game time).
