According to ESPN, this is only the second time in UF history that we’ve played on a Sunday. The way our defense has come out to start the game, this may be the only time some them ever play on Sunday.

DB’s not covering or tackling well, but we managed to hold them to a field goal. Let’s hope the offense comes out looking better.

DL should be taking over games like this.

We have a ways to go

They’re wasting no time throwing up points. Love to see it. Hopefully AR is getting the confidence he needs to stay hot.

Overall good first half, AR is hitting some nice passes and he’s spreading the ball around pretty well

Nice play from Kitna looking off ETN to go to the open guy down the field.

Quick observations

Black had some nice plays. Hard not to root for that kid
Lyons had very good push on the DL
We need an outside rusher to step up other than part time Cox.
Good seeing Hill back out there
OL looks to be solid for the future.
Kitna looks solid. Coach said he can spin it, he wasn’t lying. Other than trying to force it to his buddy on 2 in a row I thought he did very well.
Good seeing some young receivers step up.
Number 10 Mitchel made some nice plays on defense

Thoughts from Section 5, offense look sharp against an inferior opponent as it should have.
Impressed with AR passes and decision making. Kitna was solid, makes you wonder why he didn't play earlier when AR was struggling.
Defense is historically bad. A division 2 school moved the ball up and down the field for over 400 yards, pushed them off the ball, ran the ball down their throats, QB hit open receivers all over the field.
Instead of "bend but don't break", this defense should be called "bend and then get a lucky break" defense.
I don't know whether it is players or coaching but it is just bad defensive football. They don't fill gaps, cover, tackle, contain.

Matt,

I agree completely I really thought this defense could be very good. Unfortunately this is not a good defense at all.

I think it's more coaching. If you don't fill gaps, disguise coverages, tackle well, or Contain. That is 90% Coaching. Patrick Toney is in Way over is Head and not the right DC for this job.

I hate to say that this early on but the Defense is getting worse not better every game. Any team that Florida plays with a duel Threat QB will give have a career day against Patrick Toney's Defense. He is not capable of slowing down a decent Deal Threat QB.

Kinda crazy how no one doubted Strong after we replaced 9 starters during Tebows first year as a starter when the defense was horrid..

Yes dB

But that defense was very young all freshman and sophomores playing with not alot of experience. So I expected growing pains

This defense is mostly redshirt juniors and Seniors. This defense should not be struggling this bad and like I said week to week they are getting worse not better.

That is coaching!!!

Too early to tell if it’s coaching. Need more data

Not sure what your point was here? If the players are not performing, it's the coaches job to make changes, either in scheme or personnel. I don't believe that would be questioned. If that is the point you were making. What will and is being questioned is why is the defense not getting any better this year? Some might say, getting worse.

My point is all those recruiting classes we bitched about are finally biting us in the arse n you guys expect a miracle 5 games in from new but proven coaches.
The players leftover from the last staff have played poorly under their 3rd DC now, maybe, just maybe it’s time to admit we don’t have any studs on that side of the ball. Yet

BTW, Everyone knows You don’t change scheme mid season. That’s career suicide for any coach.

Looks like they are slowly weeding out the non hackers. Gonna take time to get the young guys up to speed.

Nope, not expecting miracles, just expect improvement week to week and not seeing any. Remember the ole, "keep on doing the same thing and expecting different result," adage.

Same problems, same game plan, same mistakes, same players making them, (some movement here) 5 weeks into the season. Maybe Napier needs to pull a Sabin and bring in Geoff Collins as a defensive analyst. We was a pretty good DC.

I don't have the answers, somebody making a lot more money than me needs to find them.

Looks to me we’re still weeding out the starters.

Our vet safeties are straight garbage. I’m willing to let Wilson, Moore n Mitchell start the rest of the season n let whatever happens happens.
I’d say Miller should be starting with James n Black at the other backer spot. Burney has never been more than a constant weakness.
DT give me McClellen n Dex starting with Dexter n Lyons rotating.
DE Boone has his moments, I’d put him across from Cox

Says a lot how if we started the guys who’ve played the best this season, most are new guys.
Again, last staff fkd us.

You nailed it. I just don't want to see another tight end running free down the field or a D end crash inside and the other teams RB or QB run around the end for 15 yards.

I will say PT only let that new wrinkle weak side option bite us once. We crushed it afterwards on the next what, 3 attempts?

I’m js I’m not ready to fire anyone at this point. Give em time to get UF caliber guys out there THEN judge
