Fellow Gators,
I felt this warranted its own thread so the information wouldn't get lost in the other storm/Michigan game threads.
The Dallas Convention Center is being turned into a shelter for Houston evacuees: https://www.cnn.com/2017/08/29/us/dallas-harvey-mega-shelter/index.html
It is literally next door to the Omni Hotel, where the Gator pep rally is happening Friday from 6:00-7:00pm.
How awesome would it be if Gator fans in the area and/or attending the pep rally brought food/clothing/monetary donations next door to the convention center? I imagine there ought to be security hanging around that could take these items and distribute them accordingly.
If you're flying in, you're already gonna have clothes in bags. Why not grab a few extra clothes to donate? I picked up several packages of new men's/women's/children's socks and underwear yesterday that I am cramming into my luggage that I was gonna try and find somewhere at the DFW airport to donate it, but after seeing this article and seeing the shelter will be right next to our pep rally... let's try to all collectively come together and do something more!
Remember that you can't really pack water bottles on flights unless it's checked baggage (I think), but clothing and food are totally viable options. Or you could find the nearest store when you touch down in Dallas and buy stuff to go donate at the convention center.
Let's show how generous Gator fans can be! Who's with me? :)

Won't be able to make the rally but would love to help some more. Already did some financial donations but the extra unused clothes seems great too.
