our defense has to have a good game on the ground and they have to not let Auburn get to the edges.

On offense, they just have to NOT TURN THE BALL OVER.

So far this year UF has 9 turnovers, so I am a bit worried about that.

They will have to score passing, because they CANNOT run on even mediocre defenses. They won't run on auburn.

AND THAT IS FINE. In this new age of football there are different ways to keep a defense honest.

Auburns defense is weakest in the back end, best to just exploit it.

Straws Kellen mond can move around and extend out plays trask runs about as good as Tom Brady if you put pressure on trask in the pocket he is not going to beat you with his legs and probably will throw a pick or two

We will find out in 9 days

1. You didn't watch the Auburn - Texas A&M game.

Kellen Mond beat them pretty much just passing over the middle of the field which was wide open about every single play.

2. Trask has very good touch and spreads the ball around. All six of our top receivers at the moment are averaging over 10 yards a completion.

If Toney is back against Auburn, we likely beat them by double digits -- I'm going into full "crazy" mode. The more I see the game, the more I like our chances.

Hopefully we don't stumble against Towson.

Greenard gets a lot of attention because of his pass rush, but a lot of people didn't realize that he was crushing it on run defense. I really, really like him on the edge. Similarly, if Zuniga is back I'll feel really comfortable because I know they just blow up the edges of the lines.

Malik Davis worries me carrying the ball, he's had two really bad fumbles. Sometimes, a helmet just hits it right where it needs to and the ball just squirts out -- nothing you can do. Or you get strip sacked from someone that you don't see coming. Those two are okay in some contexts.

Missing a pitch and having an unforced error fumble (in the Tennessee game he just flat out lost it) are not good.

For passing: I don't think we take very many chances against Auburn unless they try to clog the middle of the field, and if they do that we'll likely be able to throw it downfield on them and I like our receivers vs. their DBs.

I agree 100%. The only way we run on Auburn is if we start doing some different looks -- jet sweeps, option, reverse, wildcat.

Traditional running, especially power running is just flat out done for a while. Maybe by the end of the year we'll have fixed it, but I have no faith in it. We need to have a pretty pass-happy offense, which should be a little fun if not scary.

Hopefully Mullen is talking with Spurrier.

Yeah, I hold my breath everytime. Pierce needs more touches and I would like to see more Clement as well. Limited sample of him but his run was a big one.

I don’t think it’s faith as much as experience.

Before the season started we knew the OL was a work in progress. To expect that to change in the first quarter of the season is silly.

We can only hope that as they gain game experience they get better.

Agreed. Pierce and Perine are clearly RB1 and RB2 with Malik Davis coming in third. Until he holds onto the ball there's no way we can trust him to fill in if, say, Perine was hurt.

Clement would be nice, too, but I think Wright needs to start getting some touches as well.

I don't think it's so bad, I think they're just phantasmagorically better at one thing than the other. I don't remember a Florida Quarterback basically having a picnic in the pocket waiting for someone to get open like they've done so far.

They are a work in progress at run blocking, but pass blocking they might legitimately be top 20.

Tru, could be worse. At least we're not giving up 10 sacks a game.

I watched the A&M - AU game and I thought A&M would win, I was dead wrong. A&Ms OL was pushed into the backfield time and again. Mond usually scrambled when throwing and short passes were usually the only completions he made.

A&M couldn't run the ball to save their lives. End of story right there. Hope Mullen and staff have watched film already of that game and are coming up with a plan to circumvent AUs defense. We will have to be creative to get rushing yardage....and we will have to run some up the middle to keep them honest and from spreading wider.

We have to be creative to run on any defense with a decent front seven. I'm sure we will run between the tackles a lot to set up for the big hit play outside(achoo JET SWEEP). Have to pull it off well though. We need those set up runs to gain big yards to make up for the 2-3 yards we get up the middle.

Add in screens...we could do a lot more WR screens than we do currently. If they press..throw it up. Jefferson and Cleveland especially can win balls in the air in single coverage.

Bait, add Kitts as the one I love getting 50/50 balls. At 6'6" he can bring it down and has that "want to" every player should aspire to have.

I love players who absolutely HATE losing. That's why Mullen. Meyer and Spurrier were good coaches....the taste of defeat was something they hated.

True. Very good match up nightmare for us. If he can learn to block he will be a force to be reckoned with

It's unfortunate. Kyle Trask can't complete short passes to save his life.

Pack it up, guys. Auburn's pass defense is so good that they allowed 335 yards to Kellen Mond.

Here are some teams that Mond didn't throw for three hundred yards against:

Texas State.

Texas State would be the team that let Wyoming throw for nearly 400 yards against them.

Lamar.

You can't even name the mascot of Lamar.

You guys need to leave this weird cuck fantasizing about how we lose with the McElwain and Muschamp era, seriously.

Straws you are comparing apples to oranges again..the apples are red...oranges are...well...orange.

There could be a hundred reasons why Mond didn't throw for 300 yds against Lamar or Texas State...we don't know..he could have been pulled early to give backups some snaps?

Its been good luck so far that you shite on the upcoming opponent and Im the scared old wise man that remembers AU games all too well. I want you to be right. But I declared in the summer that we would be 11-1 regular season and haven't changed my mind. Losing to AU was not the L I thought of. I believe we are getting ready to make all the naysayers take notice. Of course all the usual pundits will predict an AU win. Great...let them and when we beat AU & LsU the media will have to give us cred.

Okay I'm gonna make this simple - as a pure passer, Kyle Trask is better than Kellen Mond and Bo Nix.

I am going to hold off on saying anything until after the aubbie game next Saturday. Trask should not throw more then 15 passes today. we should be able to line up and run the fricking football today.

The mighty Villanova ( not the basketball team) football team only rushed for 295 yards last week against towson so if we do not line up today and just pound them in the running game and have over 300 yards rushing then we need to completely abandon the run game and pass the ball 75 times a game

And it's not remotely close.

Auburn's weakness is the middle of their defense, which just happens to be one of the strongest parts of Kyle Trask's game -- if not the strongest.

Auburn's strength is the run game, which just happens to be one of the strongest parts of our defense.

Again, you guys (not you boX) can take this weird cuck, castrated fantasy shite somewhere else lol.

Im not fond of Mond or Nix and would much rather have Trask as our QB...AUs strength isn't their run game as much as their fricking defense and making teams punt..giving their offense the snaps to run. Nix has started to run the ball more and we have to stop him.

If you look at Mond he has no neck...looks like a RB not a QB. Nix will be good in the future, but not now. We have the advantage at QB...but if you watch AUs games they are tougher than a 3 dollar steak on defense.

We have to get stellar play on special teams...the fake punt wont be a surprise anymore since teams know we have used it. We really need more yds on punt returns to help our field position. Play smart and avoid 15 yd flags and protect the ball.

Im really looking forward to the AU game....its what makes college football the great sport it is. Will enjoy it even if we are behind in the second half cause I'll be thinking "we got em right where we want em"

Nix I feel is very equal to Jones. It's about what we would see if he was in. Wild at times, inaccurate, but a good arm so he makes certain throws you are just amazed by...but able to use his legs.

But with our offense, we need a passer more. Our strength is those targets...and a guy who can get it in their hands is all we need.
