No. 58: JOHNNY RUTLEDGE, LB (1995-98)

No. 58: JOHNNY RUTLEDGE, LB (1995-98)
Also considered: Ron Moten, LB (1982-86); Kenny Parker, DL (2001-04)
Other notable: Mike Kerr, DE (1989-90)
The skinny: In 1998, Rutledge was first-team All-SEC and one of 10 semifinalists for the Butkus Award. A year earlier, he was second-team All-SEC. Rutledge led the Gators in tackles in 1997.

About time bigD, I held off count down for you to post. BTW if you want a LB ,poundfor pound was a terror, Jack Card all 5'8" 155 lbs of him...he played ILB and would lay the wood on you. Played during Spurrier years. He was nicknamed Wild Card. Another great who played lights out against AU in mid 1970s was Ralph Ortega, who played alongside Glenn Cameron. Ortega was a AA as a senior

Another awesome LB was Sammy Green during the wishbone era in the mid 1970s....dude had 202 tackles as a senior.

Wilbur Marshall came to UF as a TE and quickly moved to OLB. He almost singlehandly beat USC (west coast) was in the backfield quicker than the snap....I believe Sean Salisbury was the hapless QB.

I played with Wilbur at UF.

You know I am only listing players who wore #58 though to coincide with it being 58 days til football. So if they didn't wear #58 they will not be listed today.
