Team looked great
Del Rio missed a few but the stable of backs looked good. Oline cleaned it up.
Defense was amazing
Go Gators!!

Wonder if this will get us back in the top 25

Doubt it. The voters haven't given UF the benefit of the doubt lately.

That was the most fun since Ole Miss last year. My biggest complaint at the moment is that I'd like to see LDR do a little better job of seeing those wide open receivers. He tried to force a few things when he had guys in the same area who were on an island basically. Not constantly, but I enough that I noticed it. Other than that:

Time in the filmroom will fix that

Our defense was angry today my friends. I was excited to see some offensive execution. This isn't the Kentucky team of the last couple years. Before I get too excited I have to remember this is the same team that gave up 44pts and 262 yds rushing to Southern Miss last week. The O-line played well most of the game and LDR shows confidence in the pocket. Overall great performance and one we can build on.

I was excited during this game. But now that I'm watching Tennessee, I'm beginning to worry again.

Tennessee is still 2 weeks away.
UF has to use next week to get Del Rio more experience and have him take the easy throws.
They also gotta stop committing stupid penalties.

V tech doesnt have our Defense
And UT is soft up the middle.
Not saying its a win but we ll be ready to go

North Texas is first.
Then they can think about Tennessee.

I was at the game. Offense looked good. Only issue was that Del Rio still sometimes holds the ball too long. he got away with a couple of throws against UK that he won't get away with against UT, LSU, UGA, etc.
But GODDAMN. The whole team played angry out there.
And the defense... THE DEFENSE LOOKED LIKE A PACK OF WILD BEARS. UK had no chance most of the time. It was actually kind of sad by the third quarter.
BEASTS.

Damn guys you have to give me time to drive back from the game
No crow to eat. I was very impressed by the overall performance of the team and listening to the Gainesville rsadio post game show...I really liked the comment by Del Rio that the team is close and there are no cliques and any grudges against fellow players etc etc.
The defense is the headline to me....it starts there with domination UK could not move the ball period...only when we put in second teamers and true frosh did we give up a score late in the game....we waited til UK got inside our ten yd line and then subbed a few first teamers in...but most of second stringers and frosh still stayed in the game.
Having the second and even third units in the game late makes Mac very popular with players and after all...they do bust their azz in practice and Mac is compassionate.
Anyway...right from the getgo we had UK in a stranglehold with our defense and with the temp/humidity it was too much for UK to overcome...was surprised at 3rd qt stats
when we hadnt allowed 100 yds of offense. I wasnt surprised by our offense too much...2 RBs got most of the carries and my man Mark Thompson started the game had a few decent hardnose carries. Perrine did very well, J. Scarlett only had 9 carries I believe....was surprised by the rotation, but Mac is trying to sort out who does what the best. Del Rios long pass to Galloway was beautiful and he let Galloway run under it to haul it in. I havent seen the boxscore yet....think we had about 550 yds of offense?
I knew our defense would be our strong suit and all we have to do is score some points...keep the defense fresh and we can beat anybody and I mean anybody. UT is struggling with Va Tech and the Hokies are not that good.
I think our defense can smother Dobbs and stop the run game from being too productive and force Dobbs to beat us throwing. Being able to score points will put more pressure on teams when they have the ball and make them force things.
I predicted 11-1 and Im not backing down.

One thing that concerns me about Tennessee is our defense's tackling.
Defense hasn't really wrapped up well in these first 2 games.
Gonna have to do that well to beat Tennessee.
But it was a VERY impressive performance today. Very impressive.

We must be doing something right on defense because we have been stingier than an old Scottish man who has moths in his wallet because we are giving up a paltry 164.5 yds a game through 2 games. Somebody is tackling!!!
Remember the other team gives scholarships too and those players dont always fall down when we first hit them. We arent going to get perfect. Anzalone was all over the field and Marcus Maye also....he is our best tackler. I saw Kylan Johnson making plays at LB and others who played snaps were LB Reese...a big dude, Chauncey Gardener as a safety, Zuniga at DE.
Del Rio was honing his craft and as I told my stepson..it isnt always the QBs fault when a pass sails behind a WR, because they may have been in the wrong spot for the play called. The really positive side is that we have true frosh contributing on offense...Hammond and Swain both got a lot of snaps...and it was good to see other guys catch passes like Moral Stephens & Lewis at the TE position. The offense will get better as timing develops between Del Rio and his receivers. Appleby is insurance just in case...but it is clear why Del Rio won the starting job. But if the unthinkable happens I think Appleby would be adequate after some snaps.
The OL was good...I watched the right side and they kept Del Rios laundry clean. Run blocking was good...but I feel that with better competition the energy level would increase and the blocking would be more crisp.
Kicking game was good..Fast Eddie is so popular and it fires the team up. His kickoffs are awesome. Townsend is an unsung hero and he booms the ball high and deep...in a tight game he is such a weapon.
In summation I would give this team overall an A- after 2 games and maybe a B+. UMass and this weak UK team arent going to tell us exactly how we will fare when we get hit in the mouth. But we must remember that the UK QB Barker lit up S. Miss's defense...and against us he had 10 yds passing. I suspect we are taking a pretty damn good team to Knoxvegas in 2 weeks. UT has only one advantage, home field. Although they do have some defensive talent, they dont have the talent top to bottom like we do on defense.
Their passing game is suspect but Va Tech kept letting Dobbsy get outside when he tucked the ball..thus he had over 100 yds rushing....just what we cant allow. Our team speed is way better than Va Tech and we need to keep the crowd sitting on their hands. I like our chances right now. Turnovers will be key and if we make Dobbsy throw more then I suspect we will pick some off.

I love beating the dogshit out of teams.
If our offense looks like this, the sky is the limit for us
