High school doesn't show if someone is a natural reading a defense. Most that look like they can there fail in college. Just hoping Manning looks like he did against OSU and Lagway has a decent pick free game so maybe we can pull out a win.

Reading defenses were not being questioned. His arm str and running abilities were.

LSU tape showed Lagway not seeing the field good and games before that. Miami game things were bad on everything and there weren't many receivers getting open. Hopefully he starts seeing things better against TX. If not might as well put Jones in and see what he does.

1. Billy should be fired already / DJ shouldve been benched during LSU.

2. Ill say this as a person who has called plays in a live event, not Madden.
As a playcaller, all you can do is get the matchup you like or your receiver in space to make a play, the QB has to make the fkn throw. ..

Lots of plays give the WR the option if he recognizes Zone to find a hole and sit, show your numbers to the QB.
DJ has missed several of these, hell he actually got our WR hurt last game on one of them by throwing wide to the side the DB was coming from and ran our WR into the DB as he made the catch.
DJ has also missed open WRs as well as WRs on simple hitch routes where he threw wide again.

I know its easier to say "Muh playcalling" but BIlly didnt make this offense up on a napkin at McDs(Well, maybe some plays lol), we run many concepts (Mesh/Hank/YSail/4Verts) every other team in football runs but again, the QB has to make the fkn throw. Lagway is not. So stop acting like we're not calling deep plays, we are. Lagway just goes safe and checks down rather than giving the wr a chance .
btw
Other than short yardage, we should never go 2 Tightends again... EVER
End rant

Once again let me make this very, very clear. Arm strength does not go away in college. Accuracy, reading defense, etc does. But without a serious injury arm STR does not regress in people in college.

You hit on a vey accurate point in Napier's play calling. I believe the position groups and formations that he is using is more his downfall than his actual play calling. I am sick and tired of watching us reduce the field to an offense that lives or dies between the hash marks because of having 2 or 3 tight ends on the field. We have enough talent and speed to stretch the field but the more important the down the tighter Napier packs the middle. This is jr high type formation and play calling IMO. He is not at a major college level as an offensive play caller.

Maybe Lagway surprises and turns it around against TX but we have a Nico on our hands if he doesn't. Most of these top rated high school QBs end up complete busts so it's not that strange of an occurrence. If he doesn't turn things around what happens to him? I doubt any team would be willing to pay big for him now looking at his tape but stranger things have happened I guess. Unlike with Nico at TN last season he doesn't have the rest of the team to get wins as a starter and sucker someone like UCLA to pay like he is a top starter.
