He left us for Houston Nutt. Got dumped by Hugh Freeze. Fired by Middle Tenessee State. And now he's on suspension and investigation at The mighty University of Texas San Antonio Austin.

I just recall him being a pretty good DC but for some reason he fizzled out.

He was never good here. I still remember watching Arkansas run for a country mile on us, Tebow scoring 6 tds, and giving up a bunch of yards to Kentucky only to be bailed out by Eric Norwood.

Eric Norwood

Damn, now there was a fricking beast if we ever had one come through here. He literally was all we had back then and he was everywhere, all the time. Imagine him on those stout d's.

In a Thursday night game against a top 10 Kentucky squad, led by Heisman candidate Andre Woodson, Norwood turned in one of the most dominant single-game performances in NCAA history. He returned two fumbles for touchdowns, posted 5 total tackles (all solo and 1.0 for loss), and had two pass deflections. The two touchdowns on fumble returns tied an NCAA record.

I was in the building that night. If he hadn’t gotten those two tds, Kentucky rushes for over 300 and washes us out by two scores.

There was a monsoon that day until right before that game. Half the student section was shirtless, the other half was drenched. Williams-Brice was insane that night.

My dad and I were at that game. Hanging out in the concourse during the monsoon with a ton of Kentucky fans. They were all very nice. Little did I know that three years later I’d meet and marry a Wildcat.

What a great game. Norwood was a beast.

I graduated the year before and took a year off before going to law school. I was working in Surfside Beach that morning, left at lunch, grabbed an 8 ball of blow and it was halfway gone before I got to the intersection of Garners Ferry and Pineview Road. I showed up to the tailgate looking like Colin Farrell in Horrible Bosses. That was a wild, wild night.

Uncle Louies was a great dive bar. So was Kelly's, especially after 2:00 am.
