Someone on the recruiting board said they'd heard Belk might announce Friday. From what I've been told, this is not the case. He is a Gamecock but it will be announced at a different time.
Also, same source said they'd been told Savion's visit to State is more of an "appreciation" visit and that it is almost a certainty that he will be a Gamecock. That could change, tho, if State closes strong imo.

Also of note...no officials this weekend. Steele has flaked again, not getting hopes up of eben getting him back on campus. He is headed to UF, his dad is good friends with UF DB coach.

The guys on the Early Game said Belk was on campus again today, but they think he is waiting on full clearance and the decision about the new transfer rule before he makes an announcement.

For those who don't/haven't, I would recommend the latest episode of the Locked on the Gamecocks podcast. JC over at 247 was talking about the Cameron Smith CB I mentioned on the last page and he is crazy high on the guy. Said that it would be criminal for the guy not to be a 4* and it isn't outside the realm of possibility for him to be a 5*. Said he could actually be the best player in the state of SC this year. He mentioned a CB that he covered when he was coming out of high school that had similar measurables, similar numbers in camp, and plays with a similar style. The guy was pretty good, his name is Patrick Peterson.

I was telling CG something similar on twitter when he camped
Dante Walker is in campus today, he is rumored to want in but we may not have room. As it stands today if we get Savion we are done on DL, that includes turning fann away. Dante however may workout as a lb and be a take there.

Yep. Steele has tweeted that he's coming and the comments alone from Florida and Oregon fans are pretty funny even if he does wind up a Gator.
ETA: Hilinski, Steele, McCullough, Hill and possibly Mullins will all be in town for Father's Day weekend visits.

Rivals rankings are updated this week here is one of their scouts answering who the toughest guy to rank was.
LINK
quote:
Adam Gorney (National): "
Ryan Hilinski
was the toughest prospect for me to rank this recruiting cycle. I knew he needed to move way up because he has been a completely different player this offseason. He has matured physically and he has been outstanding at every event where I've seen him and that means numerous 7-on-7 and camp settings. He had a very good junior season and now a fantastic offseason so he deserved a big move but I wasn't exactly sure how high. Is he in the conversation for being the best quarterback in this class? Is he right below those players? I wanted to give him his due but I also didn't want to go overboard. There is still time to get this right - including seeing him again at the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge presented by adidas - plus his senior season. If he continues to perform so well, another bump in the rankings might be warranted."

Hilinski is flying in on Thursday to help recruit at Muschamos 7 v 7 tourney, and help recruit and show Steele around campus when he flys in for his official on Friday.

I hope they sit by each other on the plane and Hilinski is in his ear the whole way...
