We sat next to the band yesterday and they were constantly singing “Take me home, country roads.” This was in between them actually playing. What gives?

I dunno. That isn't a tradition I've ever heard of, and it wasn't something the band did when I was a student.

It was mostly the guys in the last four or five rows. Didn’t know if it was some sort of “hazing” thing for freshmen or something.

not sure about the singing of that song - doesn't really fit the m.o. of the Carolina Band at any point in its existence.
I would like to take the time to blame Cormack Cannon and his poor choice of halftime music this past saturday. a 90's tribute - and the Gamecocks looked like a 90s Wally Burnham defense after halftime. it's the damn band's fault.
also - this is the second season of whoever thought that swapping the order of the "welcome to W-B" video with the pregame "gamecocks" chant before 2001 was a good idea.
it absolutely kills the crowd and flow - as everyone stops to watch the damn beast board - the noise leaves the stadium. it would be nice to change it back to the way it kicked arse since the W-B video was added to pregame.
