Didn't hear what he said but I very much enjoyed the shot Beamer took at him.

I went back to watch it cuz I didn't want to miss the shade.

"The one thing I would say is that it's a bunch of guys with something to prove. It's not some retreads that got fired from an NFL team or an offensive coordinator at the tail end of his career. We're a bunch of guys that are really smart and have a chip on our shoulder and ready to prove we can do some special things here. "

Dude don't be this level of pedantic. It doesn't help anyone and it doesn't prove your point.

For the sake of it I'm gonna play the part of Naysayer. Wasn't he hired last week? What took it almost a whole week to make it official?

I remember the days of partying during the week...reminds me of the time me and some friends dropped acid and ran around the closed water slide park on myrtle beach... on a wed night.

Actually I would support you 100%. You're one of the last " Good " guys left.

IBG would develop the players by taking their per diem, investing it, then charging 98% fees.

Being a Vet, you'll know where I'm coming from with this one.

When I first got to The Citadel, I was a mess. I just couldn't seem to get it together. We were at lunch formation one day and my 1st Sgt called me out on the quad. All I could think was "Oh $#!+." He proceed to tell everyone how bad I was at all things military. "Knobs, your classmate here is f-ing up. He can't march. He can't drill. His personal appearance looks like $#!+, etc etc." All the time I was thinking, "Great. This is it. I'm outta here. I'm going to be the first guy they run off." But then he flipped it. He said, "But I tell you what. NOBODY wants to be here more than this guy right here. He's trying harder than all of you put together. If the rest of you tried 1/2 as hard as this guy, we'd have the best damn company in the Corps this year...."

And that was it. From that point on, I would have walked, no run, thru the gates of hell for that guy. He was the best natural leader I've ever had the privilege to know personally. It was no surprise to me that 20 some years later, he was the first member of his class to make general. It was a 30 second interaction that had a real lasing impression on me as a person. I'm sure he doesn't even remember it, but I'll never forget it.

And that's exactly the sort of interaction that the player development coach needs to have with player (regardless of school). They need to be that listening ear with fatherly advice. When they go astray, the need that loving kick in the butt. When they're doing good, they need to know that too. To me, they're the most important coach on the team for developing the men long term. And isn't that what is really important?

No, Winning is whats really important to me but if its my child then the answer is yes.

So when I showed up for NAVY bootcamp at, Great Mistakes, it was on Jan 19... i wore a sweater and nearly died from the cold anyway the 2nd day they announced they had a few openings on the Navy performing choir. The CC's said no one would make it but I tried out and made it. I spent 12 weeks at bootcamp doing nothing but performing...never marched 1 foot except to go to the galley. Loved my bootcamp!

I hear you. But winning come from recruiting, and recruiting comes from addressing things the later.
