He talked about filling needs. The guys that were recruited at DL and DB will have a chance to play right away. He gave em' shite too...said the coaching staff had been watching ESPNU all day and had to wait until 1:15 before ESPNU even mentioned the #3 and #4 teams Mich St and USC in recruiting. "Hey guys...we're pretty good too."

I did the class calculator on 247, and if we get him, it'll put us just above clemson haha I would love to see that melt.
Anyone know if they have all their letters in yet?

Also puts us ahead of Ole Miss for 15th overall

We should definitely jump them with a Green commit. We jumped 5 spots when Dexter committed (comparable skill rating) and we're only one spot behind them now.
The only one they have left on their target list is Pringle and I don't even think their looking for him to come in.

I can't decide what I want more: them to have a higher ranked class and still lose to us, or for us to out-rank them in recruiting so I can listen to the bellyaching haha.

Dexter's announcement interview video
Damn, he had some serious pressure from his classmates to go to USC, they really like us down there.

Wesley Green Commits to USC!
bout damn time, glad to have him back in the fold. Now we need Wes to help get Arden Key back and it's all good.

I've got some good info on how it all went down once I get home and after everything is done .... with regard to Wideman.

Would be epic melt in the upstate if we've passed them in the rankings.
This day has been the best closing day in my memory dating back to the late 80s at least.
We've signed higher ranked classes, but never finished this strong nor filled needs as well as we've done with this class. This class is excellent.

We will finish higher than them in the 247 Composite. We will not pass them on Rivals.

I'm sitting here in the grocery store parking lot with time to expound on what went down with Wideman. ... while my wife shops.
So one of my nieces was one of Wideman's teachers and she's sort of been keeping me abreast of what was going on over there for the past few weeks. Combine that with what his former coach told me last week (he's now our AD at Strom Thurmond), and it was pretty neat that we closed Wideman.
As it was told to me .... well, first, let's get this out of the way. Wideman is not dumb. He's actually smart. He's just lazy because he's been catered to since the 8th grade. Damnit .... here comes the wife. I'll have to finish this at home.

You might be right, I don't know how the do the 247Composite exactly. I found that if you just avg the rankings from the big 4 recruiting sites though, clem5on would be slightly ahead. ALTHOUGH, we are the only school in SC to have a Top 25 class in All 4 of the Major Recruiting sites.
Taters
ESPN - #12
Rivals - #13
247 - #18
Scout - #28
Avg - 17.75
Gamecocks
ESPN - 19
Rivals - 16
247 - 15
Scout - 24

So this is the neat thing about Wideman.
There was a lot of back and forth discourse about where Wideman was going to go within his family boundaries. Most of his, rather large, family wanted him to go to FSU.
Wideman was told all sorts of things.
"If you stay close to home there will be too many local influences."
"If you stay close to home you'll be too tempted to go home all the time."
"FSU is a better path to the NFL."
"FSU has a better support infrastructure, for new recruits."
But in the end it was Wideman himself who basically took it upon himself and overruled his entire family, with the exception of one person from what I understand, his grandmother - she kept telling him to follow his heart - and she kept telling him the positives about SCAR. So Wideman, showing that he was ready to make a big decision about his own future IMHO ... it was Wideman who told everyone he was going to SCAR, not FSU where THEY wanted him to go.
And our coaches promised him they would do everything in their power to make sure he did not regret his decision.
