So I got word from someone that Joyner might be moved to safety and wasnt even in the top 3 on the QB depth chart. It had him as JT Ibe's backup at safety.

I thought about it and honestly it makes sense. I always thought he would prob transfer if he keeps it up at QB. Would be a crazy switch but keep an eye on that as a potential move.

So is this you promising us some kinda fruit? ha!

This is good.
If he's that good of an athlete he needs to.
And should succeed.
Did he play anything else in HS ? (other than QB)

This could just be something they are trying. But for QB Depth Chart, Ulrich was 2nd then Hilinkski 3rd. They said Joyner wasnt even on it. Kinda crazy but I'm all about it. Hes got some serious speed and agility, and his skill set would be a good switch to safety.

But I really want a dual threat QB. I miss the feeling of knowing Conner Shaw could break away and get a 1st down when we needed it. It was a nice safety net. Doty's got some wheels tho so maybe he can bring that.

Doesn't this guy have some speed?

I only say that because rivals and 247 had him as Dual Threat QB coming outta HS.

Hes a pro style QB. And hes 6'5". So i doubt hes a got dual threat speed. Our top three if this Joyner stuff is true is all Pro Style.

Got Doty in '20 and that boy can turn on the jets and his speed is pretty unbelievable. Looking forward to seeing the qb battle..tho Hilinski should run away with it easily. Would be great to see us rotate Doty and Hilinski depending on the situation.

Think this def has to change to how today's talk is used.

Maybe make a third.

Dual Threat, Pro Style, Drop Back?

I mean in the pros you got guys with literal Cement blocks (Brady, Eli Manning, Joe Flacco, Josh Rosen, Phil Rivers, etc)

Then you have guys that can move in the pocket, and will move and are pretty quick/fast when it comes to getting the first down (Baker, Rodgers, Russell Wilson, Trubisky)

And then the true Dual Threats
(Deshaun, Cam, Lamar... Is Josh Allen in that? lead the NFL in Rushing yards a QB? if im not mistaken)

Yea I agree, Hilinski has the higher ceiling. I'd like Hilinski to start after Bentley blows it halfway through the season. Then starts next year and we redshirt Doty, then Hilinski finishs out the next two years givin Doty his Junior and Senior year to start.

Unfortunately players rarely wait 3 years before they can start these days. We will see. I like what we have though.

Think it's also because players now are coming in SO Talented and the gap is getting quite small between the really good freshman and college players. More and more we are seeing true freshmen make instant impacts.

IMO also, if they have to wait 3 years, even at the QB, and they are a highly touted recruit, they aren't that good (or for some cases it's because an All American who's winning a lot of games or putting up big stats is ahead of them)

Lets be real with Clemson here. Kelly Bryant isn't that great, Hunter Johnson was just not that good and then he saw a first round draft pick come in the next year.

Didn't a lot of other schools offering him label him with the 'athlete' position?

Seems like we were willing to give him a chance at QB where most programs weren't. Didn't work out. Should be happy for the chance and willing to bust arse to see the field at whatever spot.

Lets be honest I think we stayed with the " you can play qb, theme to get his signature. We knew we could worry about his position later. If he made it at qb then great but if not at least we had him as an athlete and the tators didn't.
His speed and having played the qb position would give him a advantage playing safety. Joyner needs to decide if playing the qb position is more important than making the nfl. If the nfl is his dream then who better to get him there as a db then Boom and T-Rob.

Doty is a faster better passing version of Shaw by the way.

Ulrich has plenty of wheels, he was a dual threat by rivals...just watch this senior film.

Yup, Ulrich can move pretty good. I heard he might get a look at WR before it's all said and done. I would love to see DJ on offense, I agree with Mike, that kid can make people miss.

I wonder how good his hands are. You would think as a qb he would have decent ones.

He played wr when Kelly Bryant was ahead of him on the depth chart at Wren, so he has played before.

South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp will meet with the media Tuesday at 1 p.m. to preview spring practice, which starts Wednesday.

I'm sure that will be one of the questions ask.

If he does, I hope it is his idea or at least he is on board with the move. I know he was set on playing QB. He seems like a good kid that works very hard. I would hate to lose him to a transfer.

I hope Muschamp answers every question from the media with a shoulder shrug.

FWIW, I toured the new Long Operations Building two Fridays ago, and Joyner was working out with the QB's when I was there. Could have changed since then, but all of the DB's were already done and in the locker room by the time we arrived.

Yea I saw a video with Joyner with a yellow Jersey on. I'm wondering if things changed or what. I'm sure there are alot of discussions going on so it could have flipped back to QB or been a potential switch. I guess we will find out.

But I also heard some rumors about AJ Turner moving to DB. I didnt know if that was true or not, but sure enough I just looked at the roster, and Turners marked as a DB. Is that new or did I miss something?

Also, does Jam play DB again? Im sorry I really like him but he didnt grow at all. Hes 5'8" 175 and when he hits someone it just breaks him instead. Is it time to just give him looks on offense or maybe as a Kickoff/punt returner? I know thats the only reason UGA wanted him, and I think thats probably the likely end spot for him.
