The daughter of American composer and songwriter Burt Bacharach is joining South Carolina's equestrian team.

Coach Boo Major said Thursday that Raleigh Bacharach signed a letter of intent to join the Gamecocks in 2014. Bacharach will ride with South Carolina's hunt seat team and will compete both over fences and on the flat.

Damn I looked it up and he's 85 and has a daughter going into college next year...

One of his daughters from a previous marriage killed herself in 2007...at the age of 40.

I met her during her visit, by coincidence I was there for a reunion of sorts with one of my daughters who rode for Carolina.

Anyways, Bacharach has always been one of my favorite, (his liberal progressive politics not withstanding), songwriting composers - he was really big time in my prime during the 60s and 70s.

But as I was saying, anyways, I met her and she is a beautiful and polite young lady. She was there with her mother, or a lady I assumed to be her mother - beautiful in her own right - and they are avid horse people. She'll probably be bringing one of her own horses. She's a big time rider and she'll be an asset to the team and the program. Everyone is pretty excited about getting her because she could have gone to Auburn, A&M, Baylor, UGA ... she even considered going overseas - but she chose the Gamecocks and she seemed excited to be coming here.

We're really becoming the juggernaut/dominant equestrian program in the country.
