Thanks y'all!! Seriously...it means a helluva lot that y'all remembered!!

I posted this on twitter but since it is nurse's week I'll share last night's events with y'all here.

During my 12 hour shift I:

1. Had a female patient proposition me for a threesome with her and her fiance.
2. Was asked by another female patient what my astrological sign was and when I replied "Virgo" she actually yelled, "I BET YOU'RE GOOD IN BED!"
3. Had a steaming hot cup of coffee thrown at me. (they missed)
4. Had a patient that was massively fricked up on drugs and alcohol and he was wearing Gamecock pajama bottoms. (I'm in Wilmington, NC)

Those are just the highlights. Nursing is many things and boring definitely is not one of them.

Worst I've ever done (was ordered this way by the physician..at my request. But bc it was written this way it covered my arse) involved this guy who was a frequent flyer at the ER I was working at maybe 2 years after I graduated from nursing school. Dude was convinced he had some illness that was going to kill him. He was a healthy 18 year old. He would come in every 2-3 days requesting antibiotics and we'd gotten tired of it. He was taking up time and space that could've been dedicated to someone who actually needed both. Well, I asked the doc to order an injection split into 2 IM injections. (Intramuscular) The drug is called rocephin and it's almost always reconstituted with lidocaine bc it burns like a motherfricker otherwise. I asked the doc to order it straight up. I didn't mix it with anything other than normal saline and popped him in the left and right hips using the largest gauge needle I could get away with. This boy was yelling like someone was killing him and dropped to his knees and stayed there for about 45 minutes. I gained immense satisfaction from it, he never knew the difference and he never returned.

Would I do it again? You bet your sweet arse I would.

Nurses are under appreciated and, as you know, my first wife of 24 years was/is a nurse who started as an LPN worked her way up to RN and eventually an APRN. The stories she used to bring home were mind boggling in her triage years.

Later, when she began to specialize in chemo, the stories became more tragic and heart breaking. The cards and letters and gifts she would get from her patients every Christmas were overwhelming.

She was married to her job and eventually it cost us our marriage but God Bless her, she is so good at what she does. She’s helped a lot of people.

I don’t know how y’all do it Ange but God Bless all of y’all. I have had some absolute angels take care of me over the course of my life after various injuries. Met my ex wife in Newcastle England while in a hospital there recovering from a bad injury I sustained while training with the SAS. She was just the bomb at the time. Looked just like Julia Roberts to me. Got me healed and then got me hitched.

I don’t know how y’all don’t get attached to more people and patients than you do.

Virgo is the Virgin and your posting style suggests a pure and innocent heart.

Scorpios tho are the sex sign even if some are bastards or ho's out of bed

Anyway, Happy Nurses Day!

PS, as a nurse, please check all your addictions

Hahahaha will you marry me. My personal frequent flyer, I tend to use a 12 guage to get blood, and miss the vein a few times just cause. Cause the bastard refuses to bathe and the back of the bus is hot, which festers, id stick him with a 10 to run a bag, while we hit the worst roads in sc.

Edit: Before yall say thats unethical, youre right, but he is taking a bus that should be there for real issues out if service.
