Some key take aways:

- A Committee of 13 now decides the 4 teams that will be in the playoffs.
- There is not a limit on how many teams from which conference can be in the playoff.
- The 6 bowls used in the new playoff system will rotate, (Orange, Sugar, Rose, Fiesta, Cotton, Peach).
- The 3 bowls not used that year as the Semi or Championship will be be played on or after Jan 1.
- The host city for the Championship will rotate and cities are bidding now for the upcoming years.
- The first Championship will be at Jerry World on Jan 12, 2015.
- The teams will have a minimum of 6 days to prepare b/w the Semi and the Championship.
- Clem5on will no longer benefit from the BCS welfare system that allowed weak conferences to send teams to the New Years 6 Bowl Games. Most likely the Top 12 teams in the country in the AP and Coaches Poll will be invited.

Cities are bidding to host the playoff but the playoff will rotate?!

Are they bidding for the initial order and after that it's set?

As far as right now, I don't know if the desitination for the '17 or '18 games are set. I know SF, JAX and several other cities are puttin in bids for those games.

OK, I must be missing something. None of the 6 bowls is located in JAX or SF? I thought the playoffs would rotate b/w ATL, Tempe, Pasadena, DFW, Miami and NOLA?

Semi-finals will rotate between the New Year's 6 games (Rose, Fiesta, Orange, Sugar, Chick-Fil-A, Cotton) and then the bidding is for the Natty which is Jerrydome, Glendale, and Tampa for 2015, 2016, 2017

Then that would mean only two bowls would be involved and not three, right?

I wrote it wrong in the OP. The Semi's locations are locked in, but the Championship game will be played in various venues, like Jerry Dome, and whoever else wins the future bids.

Yes, 2 of the 6 will be Semi games and then the other 4 of the "New Years 6 Bowls" will be like BCS games where the next 8 best teams will be selected with some of those games having ties in years they aren't semi games (Sugar Bowl is slated to be top SEC team not in the Semis vs best Big 12 team not in Semis). Also I'm pretty sure the Orange Bowl has an SEC vs ACC matchup tie, but I could be mistaken on that

OK, gotcha. Wonder if Charlotte will enter a bid.

When the new Georgia Dome comes in I expect them to make a bid

Clemson will still have the chance in years when Orange Bowl is not a semifinal site to back into that bowl if FSU is a playoff participant. The ACC needs to become a 3-4 team league. As long as it stays a 2 team league they will still get some welfare!

If Tampa can win a bid I'm sure they will

Aren't they trying to build the Panthers a new stadium?

I think Charlotte will definitely try, but I don't know if they'll get one. BOA isn't a bad stadium. I think the team's need for one could just be settled with renovations. I mean the stadium isn't even 20 years old. I think that new stadium talk has died down. This year they were just talking about updating the electronics around the stadium and adding more greenery around. it.

Mecklenburg County just chipped in on the new baseball stadium downtown.
