That's a solid group of OL talent. Add to them the guys from last years' class that we red-shirted:

OT Eric Douglas 6-4, 308
OT Summie Carlay 6-5, 281
OT Jordon Carty 6-7, 299
OT Jordan Rhodes 6-5, 318

We should have all the depth Coach Wolford needs to build a solid OL from....

Nice Conway and muchos gracias!

How the heck could I have forgotten Crosby and Daley ... duh? Our offensive depth and talent has improved incredibly over the past three years. An absolute MUST this year is to develop another QB behind Bentley and start getting him ready with some real-time game experience. Urich is the guy, but you're right, Scarnecchia knows the playbook and is serviceable.

Okay, so defense next.

There's talk that OL guys like Malik Young, Jesus Gibbs and Jovaughn Gwyn might get a look at DL with how many OL guys we have.

Gibbs and Gwynn were already being talked about the DL before they signed, but Young is a surprise addition. With his experience playing on the OL, seems like they could find a spot for him there for his final year.

Heading into last season, he was talked about by some media as one of the biggest keys for the team to have a successful season, as the projected starting LT. But then he loses his starting job after 3 games, and now he may be shifted to the DL, for what would at best be depth??

He got a lot of the Tackle snaps at the end of the 2016 season and was thought to fight for the LT spot but got beat out by Dennis Daley. I do think he's intriguing at DT because he seemed to play OL with a DL mentality. While he may be only "depth" on the DL, depth there is different than depth on the OL in the sense that DL depth plays every game, granted they are limited snaps. OL depth basically sits there and waits for an injury.

My way too early projection for starting OL is:

LT: Daley
LG: Bailey
C: Douglas or Manos
RG: Stanley
RT: Hutcherson

With it being Bailey's senior year and him having a real shot at going to the next level, I think he's gotta put some film together where he projects at the next level which is the interior of the line. I would hope the coaches take that into account. Daley and Stanley have their spots locked down, although which side stanley plays on depends on some things but he'll be a starting guard.

I don't see Gwynn going to the d...he is far too talented in the interior of the ol...gibbs however will likely be a very solid on the dl

I am of the opinion that the offense is going to level out and be above-average productive this year with all of these third year guys in the system and with what we redshirted last season plus what we've got coming-in, already here. Plus there is the Werner factor to take into consideration.

Defense concerns me though. I trust in Boom and T-Rob, but defense still concerns me some. They are going to be tested early.

We're in agreement on Gwynn. I think he's definitely a Guard

RB CJ Williams and WR Jerad Washington are transferring out of the program. Good guys, just got buried on the depth chart at their respective positions. Best of luck to both....

Also Donnell Stanley was granted a 6th year of eligibility, so he's been re-classified to Junior. Good to have a quality OL with us for 2 more years - hopefully they will be healthy years....

Subtle note from McClendon presser today, "the only offensive players we're waiting on are josh Vann, tyquan Johnson and Dylan Wonnum. " translation: Jesus Gibbs and jovaughn gwynn are DL

It’s CJ Freeman not CJ Williams. I wondered why I never heard of the kid. He should have switched to another position like DB. He didn’t have a chance at PT with the three backs (Williams, Turner, & Dowdle) we have coming back and two more (Denson and Kinlaw) that are used on special teams.

I think we're OK in terms of depth at OL..its just experienced depth at OL behind the expected starters that's a concern, which made it surprising that Young was moved to the DL, especially since Bailey is now moving back to the interior (I guess Malik lost the starting LT job straight up to Daley last season, but would he also have lost the RT job to Camper too?).

Right now the starting OL looks like:

LT: Daley (Sr.)
LG: Bailey (Sr.)
C: Stanley (Jr.)
RG: Hutcherson (So.)
RT: Camper (Sr.)

Some good combined starts and experience, but 3 of them being seniors means we definitely need depth to develop and get some snaps this season.

The depth behind the starters, in years of experience:

Pellage (RS-Jr.)
Derouen (RS-Jr.)
Putnam (RS-So.)
Douglas (RS-Fr.)
Carty (RS-Fr.)
Carlay (RS-Fr.)
Rhodes (RS-Fr.)
Campbell (Fr.)
Iyama (Fr.)
Manos (Fr.)
Wonnum (Fr.) - not yet enrolled

Obviously looking at the depth, 8 of the 11 behind the starters will be either red-shirt or true freshmen, so that's the source of the concern right there. And despite both being 4th-year players in the program, I haven't seen much at all from Pellage or Derouen, nor from Putnam for that matter.

But I really like the depth of talent Wolford has brought in with the last 2 classes, and the 2019 class already looks VERY strong with Fox, Murphy, and Nichols committed, and being in solid positions with stud talent like Humphries, Harrod, Moore, McClendon, etc. It's a year away until next signing day, and we won't get half of those guys, but we're in excellent shape to have another great class.

Coach Wolf just needs to start coaching the young guys up....

Watching his film and teams like BAMA and the likes pushing late for him as a guard is a huge indication that that's where his future is...and the fact he blocked due crouch in HS familiarity could have helped alot when he visited and talked to gwynn
