They don't want to release the suspect's name, because they fear it will endanger the life of the victim. That sounds like some gang stuff right there... scary.

Yeah, it is just hard to see Blackshear back on the team at this point.

He needs to go to JUCO out in some place like Iowa to just get away from this place.

Two other witnesses at the scene said they heard gunshots and saw a man running toward a white pick-up truck. The suspect, according to those witnesses, then fled the scene in the truck.

You know who else drove a white pickup...clemson tater super fan/rock smasher Micah Rogers.....

Anybody know where Micah was at Wednesday night

Seems more of a pattern than bad luck IMHO.

It's waaaaay worse than most of our fans know.

He's gotta go.

Since the day he stepped on campus, literally, he's been a problem.

He's just ... gotta go.

Im of the opinion that he should stay. Hopefully he has learned from his mistakes, and the chip he has on his shoulder now should cause his game to be epic.

No, just...no.

If he's allowed to come back, the message that is being sent to future recruits is that we are lowering our standards just to haul in talent that may or may not even pan out.
Those recruits who are both talented AND have character won't want to come here and their parents sure as hell won't want them to come here....add to that what's been mentioned earlier in that this is ALREADY being used against us recruiting wise. Why give them ammunition??
Furthermore, this kid is the kind that, if he were allowed to return and had an "epic" performance...it would NEVER be about the team. It would be a showboat, "look at me! look at me!" kinda deal.

No thanks.

The Carolina I know and love is WAY too good for that kind of bullshite.

Do we have any more details on this? Is he still in the hospital? Have any arrests been made? Do we know what the shooting was related to? All I can think about is the situation that Auburn had a few years back.

Media has gone oddly quiet since about 3 days ago.

I've heard/seen/read absolutely nothing since 3 days ago.

Kinda weird...except for the gang connection that was mentioned earlier being the reason for radio silence.

A gang wouldn't have randomly targeted him, IMO. If that is the case I'd almost bet it was some kind of retaliation, initiation for rival gang, etc.

I wasn't saying he was in a gang... just stating that the fact that they hadn't released a suspect's name made it sound like some Gangland type stuff. I keep waiting to hear more on it, but it has been silent.

Muschamp spoke with Blackshear and he is expected to be released from the hospital in the next couple of days. He was in there for over 2 weeks, so this was absolutely a serious injury.

There's still no concrete info about how serious it was and IF it will impact his playing career. Hopefully it's just muscle damage and avoided any joints/ligaments.

This was going around earlier this morning ... it appears to have originated from 247.

quote:

South Carolina defensive end Shameik Blackshear is still hospitalized but according to head coach Will Muschamp, the redshirt freshman’s condition is improving and he could be released soon.

“I’ve spoken with Shameik,” Muschamp said. “He’s doing well. I expect for him to probably be out of the hospital in the next couple of days. They’re very pleased with his progress.”

Blackshear was shot twice in an incident at the Club at Carolina Stadium, an apartment complex located right outside South Carolina’s baseball facility. Blackshear suffered a gunshot wound to his upper body and another to his lower body, according to this Dec. 18 report from The State.

Blackshear, a former four-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite, played in two games for South Carolina during his freshman season and recorded two tackles. The Bluffton native was the second-highest ranked recruit in the Gamecocks’ 2015 class.

Blackshear is one of five defensive ends on the spring football roster and is the only redshirt freshman. Defensive end Keir Thomas (Miami, Fla./Miami Central) is also expected to join the roster this week.

Muschamp said today that they are now expecting Blackshear to play again and he reiterated that Blackshear is the victim in this situation and not subject to any disciplinary action. Right now he is just caring about Blackshear getting well again and recovering.
